None of the family strikes me as a mastermind of any sort either. I don't know the current status of the Little Red River search but the last I read LE had called upon additional divers to help. From what I understand the search could take some time.

While LE keeps saying they haven't ruled anyone out and the investigation is ongoing they haven't named a POI(s) yet so I'm treading carefully here. I do think (MOO) that down the road we'll learn about “troubles” that people close to Malik have had in the past. I don't know if it'll play directly into the investigation though.

I hope our suspicions all turn out to be wrong and Malik is found alive and well, but with each day that hope fades. :(

He didn't have an official diagnosis, so the only way we'll find out is if he's found alive and evaluated. But as I've said before, even the suspicion of autism can be enough to serve as an excuse to some so-called caretakers. It's often parents who target an autistic child, but it can be relatives too--even a preschool teacher in one case. It's basically the same group of people who statistically tend to harm non-autistic children, but the risk for autistic children or children suspected of having autism is much greater. On the autism spectrum, being a victim of crime is the norm, not the exception.

Thanks for advocating for your daughter, by the way. I'm on the spectrum too and my mom was in denial, even took me out of school because they wanted to evaluate me. It caused me a lot of problems down the line, including landing me in the hospital a couple of times, because I wasn't taught those all-important coping skills and didn't get proper support.

Unfortunately I don't know whether twins are at greater risk, or why they might be.

My next door neighbors had twin boys, both with Autism spectrum. One worse than the other one.

This is an out there idea, but one I was thinking about. I admit, I saw it on a show once.... What if one of these adults couldn't handle his autism (undiagnosed) and maybe it was affecting their relationship. So, they found someone else to care for him. They did not tell the other adults and passed it off as he went missing, knowing there wouldn't be any trace of a crime. I know it was only a show, but in the show, the child also had special needs. The mother couldn't handle him so she gave him away. It turned out bad for him for awhile, but they got him back. It probably is not the case, but I sometimes think that criminals get ideas from television.

I was thinking something similar like GF arranged a time for him to be taken in exchange for $.

Statistically, the odds say this wasn't a stranger abduction though we've all seen cases here that have beat those odds. But with the little information we have it's reasonable to think this was an inside job.

But “inside” could include anyone, not just immediate family. Based on surnames, I'm guessing Malik's bio mom and dad weren't ever married, so more questions come to mind. How formal was the shared custody arrangement? Was dad paying child support? Are there other partners or ex-partners around? Relatives who may have disapproved of the way the twins were being cared for?

For me (MOO) it's most likely either an accident/abuse coverup or a revenge abduction. I don't really see a “Good Samaritan” situation here.

Yeah, I know, so what else is new? :blushing: I'm just thinking out loud.

While I personally believe LE has someone in mind, the msm remarks about not ruling anyone out and not jeopardizing the case by releasing information to the public could also be a way to make a perp nervous - nervous people make mistakes and sometimes even come clean just to end the stress. It could also be a way to make someone not directly involved come forward in order to avoid more serious charges later.

I dunno. My current burning question is – why Malik and not one of the other kids? My gut says that answer will lead us straight to the perp.

Don't like what you're thinking at all, but I agree. :please: come home Malik.

I found this post on the FINDMALIK facebook page. It appears to be from a person who attended the vigil. I will remove the name for privacy.
"All was there, Jeff, and Lesley and Malik's mom. He had a HUGE family present. If you was looking at us while speaking, everyone to the left was his family from both sides. Jeff also spoke, I took him the mic because the man was shaking and crying so hard he couldn't stand. Malik's mom and her aunt spoke, his dad and his mom spoke also. It really was nice.

Also the media put that there them self. After dealing with the media last night, watching interviews and being interviewed myself I realized just how much things get changed or took out of context. They talk to you for a hour then show a 30 second bit of that."

“From what I’m told, anytime detectives need to talk to them about any part of this investigation, they have been more than willing to come up here and talk to them,” Hernandez said.

about family members in the home when he went missing,

"He also confirmed that Malik is not autistic, as was first believed when he was reported missing."

Thank you, Mountain, for the posting the information. So sad that there are no answers still or credible leads, hoping that changes.

LE's gone quiet.

I'm hoping this is the calm before the storm.

As I wrapped some of my granddaughter's Christmas gifts last night, I thought of the (too) many innocent children here on Websleuths (and beyond) that will not or may not have that special moment of wonder and surprise realizing that Santa did in fact come the night before. My heart is heavy with the knowing that this happens all too often. Giving to Toys for Tots and supporting a local family helps; but, for those children we cannot reach..........

Little Malik, I would love to believe that you are somewhere warm and comfortable being hugged and kissed every day. My fear is that is not the case. You are on my mind just as Jenise Wright, Relisha Rudd, Erica Parsons and too many others.

I hope the holder of the truth behind Malik's disappearance comes forward soon. I hope they do not allow another holiday to pass without lightening and lifting that load of guilt for whatever has been done. Malik and his entire family deserve nothing less.

While I am not a religious person per se, I do feel that positive thoughts, love, compassion, respect and kindness for others can go a long way in healing what ails this world. I hope all law enforcement and searchers for the lost and missing are able to enjoy this holiday with their families.

Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas to all of you Sleuthers!

You too and wishes for joy and wonder to all WSers.

I think of little Malik, his mom, Nana, twin and other loved ones, the community that turned out in droves to look for him, the search teams, the divers, and LE. Seems certain he is not forgotten and still much sought.

Where are you Malik? We will not give up. Prayers for you that something will lead us to you soon.

Praying for some good news on Malik soon. It seems that he is being forgotten in the news. We can hope that LE is onto something regarding this case. I think of his cute smile and sweet little blue jeans as I write this post. Where are you sweet one??

He looks so adorable in those pics. My youngest is his age and it just breaks my heart thinking about what really happened to this poor little boy. You

I know little kids are small physically but how on earth do so many of them just vanish? Poof! Unspeakably evil!!!

I keep asking myself the same thing, SouthSleuth. How can something so precious, just vanish into thin air. My heart aches for Malik's twin, who must be feeling his absence more than anyone, and the rest of his family. I hope they have news for Christmas, good or bad, at least they will know where their lovely lost boy is.
