Dive teams have concluded their search as nightfall approaches, but it’s the latest active sign, despite volunteers being sent home, the search for Malik continues.
...
What police describe as a tip brought them out here this morning, but part of verifying it included using their own certified cadaver dog to see if it would pick a scent.

My local news kait8 just had a break stating some disturbing news in the search for Malik on at 10. I will update when I have a link.

I think them searching in the water is pretty disturbing news in itself. Obviously they don't believe he is alive. That might be considered disturbing news to a tv station trying to rein in viewers.

I don't want a disturbing break in the case !

I think steelman's right - the disturbing break is that LE's searching the water. Anything else would have shown up on Twitter by now.

And I think you're right too, SCHMAE; it was a substantial break. Either someone at the landing (perhaps fishing) saw something floating in the water that had the right color of Malik's shirt or someone's talking.

That LE verified the tip by using a cadaver dog is expected but heartbreaking. Part of me wants Malik found no matter what the circumstances and part of me wants this to be a false lead.

Obviously this is just rumour but having looked at channel 7's fb page there is a comment from a guy who appears to be a friend of the fathers (going by his fb page comments) saying that he has heard that they found Malik's shirt in or around the water & this is why they went into the water....

Of course there is no proof or substance to his comments, although I do wonder why a friend of Malik's father would write such a thing! only an observation...

So want a happy outcome! Prey for u malik!

Wow thanks, doesn't look far in that map, although I know it has been reported as a few mile!

If that kid is in the river.........somebody PUT him in the river. Way too far for a little boy to walk and just happen to end up there. The closest intersection of the river and a highway is about 2 miles THROUGH TOWN and on the other side of Searcy.

See map:

Note to all:

Leave the rumors where you found them.

Thanks.

LE saying they brought in 'their own' cadaver dog leads me to wonder if it was a volunteer SAR person who called in the tip after their own dog hit near the river in the area searched. Why else would LE make a statement about having to bring in 'their own' dog(s)?

I can't help but think the "girl friend" was possibly jealous of dads attention to Malik. Especially having lost a son. Her having lost (custody of) many kids.... just something about the combination of circumstances which caused them to lose their kids being so opposite - really makes me wonder.

I can't help but wonder why he was napping.... Could be partying, or could be working a night shift? I'm trying to think of a situation where the gf could have harmed Malik under his nose while he napped. I'd think one would have to be in a pretty deep sleep to sleep through two toddlers, bath and dinner time.

It breaks my heart to think this handsome little man is no longer with us.

She has 3. Still, same thing applies. Nothing on any of them.

He might be posting on his FB but not making the posts public. It could be set to "friends only" or whatever.

Wow! I've had a very similar thought. If they have a child together I think they have a daughter. Sons seem very important to this family. I have wondered if that caused some resentment and led to something happening to Malik, either planned or unplanned.

I also think that IF the dad and gf have a daughter together she is very close in age to Malik- maybe 6 months younger. In the pic of the three kids together I think the girl twin is on the far left and the gf daughter is in the middle. They (gf daughter & Malik) look close enough to be twins. I've even wondered (wished) that perhaps Malik was sent away somewhere with the dad and gf planning to join him later and raise their daughter and Malik as twins. I know this is basically no chance of this, but it has crossed my mind, and would be wonderful as it would mean Malik is still alive and healthy.

Its a public page. If it were private a message would come up saying become friends with (insert name) to see what he shares with his friends.

But can't you set each post to be either public or private (or somewhere in between)? Still not sure he is posting much, but I thought that might be happening.

Sometimes nothing say a lot...

I had quoted this earlier and your post brought it back to mind. In the Nancy Grace transcript, this is stated by David Goins, a reporter from KARK 4:

"We are near the home just about 20, 30 feet behind me and we`ve actually talked with Malik`s father this afternoon about the developments related to the fact that the search has stopped. He said this is the first he`s hearing of it. He didn`t have a lot to offer actually saying in previous media interviews he felt like his situation had been misrepresented so he didn`t want to talk to us much beyond that."

Malik's father's response of being misrepresented confused me. It didn't make sense to me. My initial conclusion was that he's obviously hiding something and still I felt and feel slightly torn on what to think and make of it. What is the likelihood that this misrepresentation of him is because someone stated he was there and asleep when possibly he wasn't even there? What is the likelihood LE advised him not to say anything? We don't know if he passed a polygraph or not, but we do know MSM has reported that his girl friend said she failed.

I wonder if the girl friend is still staying there now?

One of her accounts liked a missing poster on somebody else's page. That's the only activity I've seen.
