Sadly, Marquis Martin was located deceased earlier today, March 7, near Wilmar. His body was found around 7:05am & has been positively identified to be that of Marquis Martin.

IMO, this video from Monticello Live confirming that Marquis Martin has been found deceased was done very respectful.

Deputies say the body of Marquis Martin, 26, was found in a creek just outside of Wilmar around 7:05 a.m.


Arkansas Game and Fish along with Arkansas State Police arrived at the scene after someone called to report that the body had been found.

Martin was pronounced dead by the Drew County Coroner. His body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.

Deputies say that Martin was last seen on surveillance video at a Murphy's USA gas station on Feb. 9 at 9:21 p.m. After leaving there, he was reportedly driven to his home. When he didn't report to work on Monday and Tuesday, his friends and family knew something was wrong.

If you have any information about Martin's death, you are asked to call Arkansas State Police at 870-226-3713 or the Drew County Sheriff’s Department at 870-367-6211. You can also submit an anonymous tip with the Monticello Police Department at 870-723-5323.

Obituary of Marquis Martin
Marquis Dareun Martin, 25 was born August 6, 1993 at Bradley County Hospital in Warren, AR to LaKisha Arrington and Jeffery J. Jackson. A sudden departure from this life left a tremendous void in the hearts of those who loved him. Marquis was a member of Shady Grove A.M.E. Church in Wilmar, AR. He was grateful for the members of Shady Grove.

Even though he was young, Marquis was never afraid of hard work. He worked with his Uncle Rod in the logging industry as well as the city of Wilmar. He was currently employed at Drew Central School District as a paraprofessional, and also worked part-time at McDonald's in Monticello. Marquis had a love for children he worked with as well as the children in the community of Wilmar, whom he would look out for, making sure they were safe in the mornings as they waited to catch the school bus. To many of the younger children, he was lovingly called "Uncle Mack."........

The Drew Co Sheriff’s Dept and the AR State Police continue to seek information concerning the death of Marquis Martin.

A $25,000 reward is being offered.

That's a hefty reward for starting out. They are definitely trying to get the chatter going. Good for them.

MAC was a good friend of mine in high school. This is that typical small town deal where everyone knows everyone and their families. Mac’s killer is still on the lose. Even after finding his body. Will post a link to everything the media has posted. Hasn’t been an update in a while on it. <modsnip>

Although I did not know MM personally, his case caught my attention when he first was reported missing. I’m not from the Wilmar area but I do live rather close. You are absolutely correct that Wilmar is much like most other small southeast AR towns-everybody knows everybody & what’s going on with them.
With that said, rumors can easily start flying! But I believe there is truth in some of what gets around in small towns (to an extent). IMO someone knows the circumstances to what happened with MM.

Marquis Martin autopsy results released; investigation continues - Seark Today

July 6 2020 Update

The state Medical Examiner listed Martin’s death gunshot wound to the back of his head. Tenth Judicial District Prosecutor Thomas Dean released the autopsy results Monday.

Rumors surrounding Martin’s death have been circulating on social media. Some of those rumors where proven to be untrue with the release of the autopsy report.

“There’s no evidence of trauma to his body other than the gunshot to his head,” Deen said. “It is unusual for me to release any information while an investigation is pending but the amount of misinformation that appears to be circulating caused me to do so.”

To Note:
Sheriff Gober said one rumor circulating on social media is that he and/or his sons were involved in Martin’s murder. “Social media is running haywire out there,” he said. He also said there have been death threats against him and his sons.

Gober said the rumor that he or his sons were involved in Martin’s disappearance and murder seems to have started on February 28, before Martin’s body was discovered. He said a former political opponent made a comment on social media. (Sparked rumors)
