IMO There is some good discussion on the Crime Library board but it is too often derailed. . . I seriously believe that there are some locals that are doing this intentionally. Regardless, I'm not going to stop reading it.

Bobbisangel, I think it was delayed. I'm not sure, I will see if I can find out later on tonight. I think either the prosecution or defense asked for a continuance and it was granted. I will see if I can find out though, ok?

I'm suprised this case hasn't gotten really ANY national media attention since this is the first I've heard of this! When I first saw this thread I thought it happened recently but it was from 2005!

I'm really suprised the boyfriend was let out on bond. What was the motive for the murder?

A former police chief testified yesterday about a bloody palm print on a light bulb - a print he concluded was made by a man accused of killing an Arkansas Tech student in 2005.

Kevin Jones is charged with killing 19-year-old Nona Dirksmeyer, his girlfriend. The light bulb was part of a floor lamp allegedly used to kill Dirksmeyer.

James Bacon, Russellville's police chief when Dirksmeyer died, testified that Jones said he touched only Dirksmeyer's body when he and others discovered it.

Jones' lawyers have said the print could have been created when the body was found. Bacon is a certified latent print examiner.

The defense called only one witness Wednesday--a pathologist who said he could not affix a time to Dirksmeyer's slaying.

Kevin Jones was found NOT guilty today. I will post links later. I do know from watching the news out of Little Rock tonight that Nona's mother is going to file a civil suit against Kevin.

I just finished watching this case on 48 hour mystery....and they said a new prosector is opening this case up to seek charging the guy whos DNA was found on the open condom wrapper.

What a sad thing..she was so pretty

I still think he did it. The other guy's DNA on the condom wrapper doesn't prove the guy killed her. Kevin Jones may have found the wrapper and that is what triggered his rage and caused the fight in which Nona was killed in my opinion.

I'm with you on that. Especially after I saw his behavior while in the interrogation room by himself. He definitely has some anger issues.
