Some people seem to be getting creative:

There is a new development in the incredibly disturbing tale of Rep. Justin Harris (R-Linda Blair’s House)...

Which would be fine, I suppose, if the school did not receive $900,000 a year in federal funds, and if those running the school were not performing exorcisms on toddlers.

This is what I was looking for...the kind of sarcasm and ridicule that would land it on the Daily Show and draw a bead on Harris. This is not trivializing the rehoming that led to baby rape. It is hitting all of his peers where they live because once people start following the money, I am willing to bet quite a few of these folks are going to be in big trouble. Harris will feel the pressure then...

GOP Rallies Around Arkansas Lawmaker Who Gave Away Adopted Daughters

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.—From coffee shops in rural Arkansas to the state capitol, Arkansans cannot stop talking about Republican state Rep. Justin Harris.

The saga of Harris began with him and his wife adopting two girls in the state’s care. Then they subsequently “rehomed,” or gave them, to another family—the Francises—because the girls had severe behavioral issues. Both girls had previously been sexually abused in their birth family. Ultimately, one of the girls was sexually molested by Eric Francis, who had previously worked for Harris at the preschool he owned called Growing God’s Kingdom, Inc.

[...]

Some Democrats are calling for the resignation of Harris, who is vice chairman of the House Committee on Children, Aging, and Youth, which deals with such adoption issues.

But the legislator’s party remains solidly behind him.

[...]

A group of concerned citizens has started a social media campaign to ask Attorney General Leslie Rutledge, also a Republican, to force Harris to resign. The Facebook group says on its site, “Arkansas is lesser in leadership with him [Harris] at the helm of anything! His documented errors in judgment plainly reveal him to be legislatively unreliable. He persistently & arrogantly walks the path of deception and half-truths to his own self-serving agenda.”

I think the Tea Party is terrified what the Republicans may do. They are not one and the same party and haven't been for quite some time. I've been astounded at the ignorance I've seen tied to this story.

Arkansas Legislator Justin Harris Performed Exorcisms On Adopted Daughters Before Giving Them Away: Report
The Huffington Post | By Andy Campbell

Arkansas state legislator Rep. Justin Harris gave his adopted daughters away because he and his wife thought they were possessed by demons, according to a report in the Arkansas Times.

The revelation is particularly shocking because one of the girls was eventually raped by the new foster parent, who was one of Harris' former staffers, the New York Daily News reports.

Chelsey Goldsborough, who regularly babysat for the Harrises, said Mary was kept isolated from Annie and from the rest of the family. She was often confined for hours to her room, where she was monitored by a video camera. The reason: The Harrises believed the girls were possessed by demons and could communicate telepathically, Goldsborough said. Harris and his wife once hired specialists to perform an "exorcism" on the two sisters while she waited outside the house with the boys, she said.
Multiple sources who interacted with the family confirmed Goldsborough's account that the Harrises believed the children were possessed, and another source close to the family said that Marsha Harris spoke openly about the supposed demonic possession.

This is really a story about Justin Harris and why he thought he was untouchable no matter what action he took, what money he took and whose life he destroyed.

Just sayin Mr Harris-step down and set up trust funds for these babies and you might get your life back some day.

I am so sick of people using and abusing our constitution to try and justify their actions. The people that manipulate our rights to their advantage are a threat to all hard working citizens. This "man and wife" need to be taken out of their positions. They are a detriment to our society. We are all tax paying citizens and this family should not live off of our dollars. Enough!

The Worst Adoption Therapy in the World

Many of these treatments, popularized by attachment therapists in Evergreen, Colo., revolve around asserting parents’ absolute control over their children, through strict regulations on children’s movements and eating habits. Sometimes children are put on extremely limited diets of bland, unappetizing food; assigned hours of pointless, repetitive chores; forced to sit in one location, facing the wall, for hours at a time; and endure “holding therapy,” wherein children may be forcibly held down by parents or therapists to induce first a feeling of rage and powerlessness, then catharsis and acceptance when they finally submit. In 2000, 10-year-old Candace Newmaker famously died under the care of attachment therapists in Evergreen during a controversial “rebirthing” treatment.

In extreme cases that have gone to court in the last two decades, some adoptive and foster parents have justified locking children in caged-in bunk beds as a form of attachment therapy that they said they were inspired to try after reading books on attachment therapy, or employed terrifying punishments like forcing children to “dig their own graves.”

[...]

Since writing her book Attachment Therapy on Trial: The Torture and Death of Candace Newmaker, psychology professor Jean Mercer has become a staunch critic of RAD therapies, which she says mistakenly equate obedience with attachment. Mercer also notes that there is a concerning synchronicity between attachment therapy principles and outdated religious child rearing philosophies that emphasize children’s submission above all else. That overlap makes it unsurprising that children said to have RAD are spoken of in almost supernatural terms: as demonic or possessed.

Comment: I consulted on the case of Candace Newmaker. The so-called "treatment" was horrific. Her death, and the later conviction of those involved, resulted in the move to illegalise "rebirthing therapy" in Colorado, titled "Candace's Law."

Here's a link to the transcript of that tragic case. Please read with caution. It is extremely disturbing.

Justin Harris used foster daughter in campaign materials, against DHS rules

harriscampaign2.jpg

State Rep. Justin Harris (R-West Fork) used photos of a foster child his family was planning to adopt during his 2012 re-election campaign. The state Department of Human Services expressly prohibits the public use of photos or any other media that would compromise a foster child's anonymity.

Asked whether the Department of Human Services was aware Harris was using a foster child in campaign materials, DHS spokesperson Amy Webb said she couldn't comment specifically on Harris, but speaking generally, she said the agency would not allow such use.

It always amazes me what society tolerates in acts against children vs. acts against adults. If a husband kept his spouse locked in an alarmed room and used some of these "treatment" strategies against her it wouldn't just spark distaste--it would be viewed as criminal depravity.

Same thing in acts children commit against each other. An adult-sized teen beats up another teen at school and it's often treated like a minor offense. "Boys being boys." But add two years to the kid's age and it's a felony worth jail time. Yet parents get outraged at even the idea of schools calling the police in such instances.

My issue is exactly the idea that this is a "therapy" as it makes me sick to my stomach. Pure abuse.

Apparently "they" yes both husband and wife, thought they were superior to the laws and regulations that govern and protect the most innocent in our society.

These individuals think they can manipulate society because they presented a false persona to get voted into a position of authority.

We cannot let the lowest of society that only want to benefit for themselves, harm the most innocent. If we will not stand up for these children, then who will? The excuses for their actions and behavior are atrocious. I will not sit silently and tolerate abuse of the innocent.

There is no excuse for them to be in any position for another month, week or day!
