Are there any U.S. men here who have changed their names, and had issues with it?

I'm hearing all kinds of stories about women who want to get a passport or renew their driver's licenses who are repeatedly being turned away because they're told they have the wrong paperwork. Certainly there have to be some men here who have changed their name at some time in their lives, and are facing similar red tape.
