Grand Canyon National Park authorities are asking the public for help in locating a missing 26-year-old man who was last seen in the park.
Sandarsh Krishna is a 26-year-old man who is roughly 5’10” and 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing athletic clothing.
His last “possible known location” was along the Rim Trail at Hermit Road, between the Bright Angel Lodge and Mohave Point.

There has no known vehicle. Authorities believe he may have been using a rideshare or taxi service to travel around the area.

His last known location at Rim Trail at Hermit Road. If you open up a Google map overview of the area you can see the Bright Angel Lodge. referenced in his missing info.

I could find no additional infromation on him regarding his reason for visiting. Tourist from US or another country? College student on holiday? Family/friends in Arizona?

The trail is 13 miles, fairly flat, accessible, and there is a shuttle along the way you can hop on if you don’t want to walk anymore. But there are sections along the cliff with no guard rail.

I hope he is located safe today.

Investigators believe Krishna had a black backpack at the time he went missing.

A black backpack believed to be associated with Krishna was later turned in to hotel personnel at Bright Angel Lodge on April 28 at approximately 7 a.m.

Investigators are seeking to identify and speak with the individual who turned the backpack in to lodge staff. The person is not considered a suspect.

If you recognize the person pictured or have information that could assist investigators, please call or text the NPS ISB Tip Line at 888-653-0009

So Sandarsh was last seen between 4pm and midnight on the 27th. His backpack was turned in at 7am the next morning.

That's a large window of time during which he was "last seen". Is the National Park Service trying to keep details limited? Also, midnight would be late to be out on the trails wouldn't it? What time do they turn the lights off on the Rim trail? What is there to see late at night? (Sorry for the possibly dumb questions but I've never been there.)
I presume that his backpack was found in a fairly obvious place once it became light out in the morning. Where was it found?

Was he hiking alone? If so, who reported him missing? It seems he was missed very quickly, yet they didn't know how he arrived in the area?

The backpack find is confusing, to hand in at 7am seems like the person was checking out or arriving for breakfast, not arriving back from their own hike.

Lots of people get up early to watch the sun rise over the canyon. At this time of year that would be around 5:30 AM.
