Armchair Psych Profile and JH's Background

That was me thinking out loud. Reportedly JH took a vicodin before the shooting. The doctor was previously reprimanded for prescribing vicodin for anxiety/headaches to the employee.

Call me crazy but when one thinks outloud, while quoting my post, I just can't help but think that it's directed to me.

FTLOG this guy has a history and who here is surprised? In the course of my life, I've met with shrinks and counselors to a positive result as have family members. Depression and similar issues are painful but they aren't typically indicative of psychosis. I've taught adjudicated youth and once after a particularly disturbing drawing was found, I relayed it to my supervisors. Point is,,,serious mental illness and HIPPA need to re-evaluate their goal. I said days ago there was either obscure or obvious issues with this man. We all struggle but what's sadder is he didn't get the care he needed. I really don't know where we go from here as there is NO doubt his shrink knew what he was capable of doing and I'd not want to be in her shoes.

History of what? We don't know what she was treating him for. What exactly makes anyone think she knew what he was capable of?

If people who have followed this case up until now aren't at least entertaining the possibility of JH having issues of schizophrenia .... well, then .... De Nile ain't just a river in Egypt.

Whoa, hold your horses please. (not anyone in particular) Many of us still feel extremely dubious of the media's assertions.

Well now I hope you find my response as perfectly appropriate:just because the shrink specializes in schizophrenia doesn't mean JH was there for that.

That's okay. You have the right to feel however you do. I'm just sayin ...
If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck ... then it might possibly be a duck. Then again, it might just be someone dressed as a duck, because they were thinking they were a duck. ;)

guessing your post is directed at mine, though i could be wrong. Mental illness comes with so many stigmas but there is a vast difference from depression and psychosis. The damaging factor is re HIPPA no one can talk regardless. There needs to be clarity.

No, I don't. I don't think it is ever appropriate to put words into peoples' mouths.

How would disposing of HIPAA help those with mental illness? I presume they don't want their doctors revealing their medical information.

So it's not appropriate to respond that we don't know that he has anything like schizophrenia even when you bring up the idea that he might? Isn't that what you are trying to say?

exactly. Troubling factor is he was being treated and if he was remotely honest in treatment, the great unknown here, his counselor had a clue. If true, there are limited remedies out there re HIPPA and that may be the crux of the problem. JMO

:rollercoaster::rollercoaster::rollercoaster:

and when I see a bird that walks like a duck and swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, I call that bird a duck :)

Treated for what? None of us know. So, no, I don't think we have any information that she had a clue.

huh? not disposing of HIPPA but if a doctor is concerned re a patient, there'd be a venue to discuss that. Not really that complex of an idea. People get Baker acted all the time but that's for fear of their safety but what about when others pose a threat?

If doctor knows patient is thread to someone they are already able to report on that patient.

HH, some people are just myopic and refuse to even entertain any possibility whatsoever that JH 'might' be suffering from mental illness. Not one of us knows for sure!

I think it might have to do with the thinking that he might 'get off scot-free', if he has MI. That is far from true. Especially in CO from what I've heard, if I understand correctly. JMO
