Over the last several days, I get the sense many are angry at possiblity of insanity def. We all gotta remember that even if they did that (doubtful if they did not go for Psyc Eval yesterday). he will never be on the streets again. My vote - lawyer said '"You posted it on line - lets not even get into insanity - you will never be free".
Case just too big - on tape - he will never be free!

Good link. I think we all pretty much agree that he doesn't fit the 'legal' definition of 'not criminally responsible". The fact remains, however, that there is something fundementally wrong with him. What do we, as a society, do with people like Luka? It's apparent that his brain doesn't function 'normally'. Be he sociopath, or psychopath, or narssicist, which ever, or a combination of all, his brain doesn't fire the way ours does. We know from intense study, that these people cannot be fixed; they are incapable of being any other way. Doesn't that beg the argument of 'not criminally resposible' in its own right? (Just throwing out thoughts here) I guess i really want to see some benefit come out of this tragedy, and I don't know that killing these sorts of people adds any benefit to society at all. I just don't know, to be honest. I just don't want to descend into the type of society that is blood-thirsty.

I get the feeling he was generally a desperate, scared person in general.

I don't know how he got the 'courage' to do what he is supposed to have done, but again, from the moment he went on the run, he was said to be highly agitated and nervous by the more reliable witnesses, and crying uncontrollably on the plane.

Me too... that's why this story is so shocking, what baffles me the most is that he is so tiny and androgynous, I have never seen someone so fragile looking commiting such violence. Also if we look at his prior actions to the murder, he always acted like a coward, would blame on others for his actions (crazy agent, stalkers, Manny, etc), it makes me wonder how did he get the courage to kill and why would he expose himself to let people know it was him and be arrested. I guess he reached a stage in his life where he realized that he would never have the life he dreamt about, so what the heck, maybe is better to be infamous than a nobody.

The anti-social personality disorder forum has a long thread about him (Luka himself posted there to promote the killvid) and a lot of people there seem to be surprised and do not think he is a true psychopath or a serial killer "whose self preservation instincts are far greater than Magnotta's''. Most people think Luka wanted to put up a show, to get attention. I'm confused, the only thing I know for sure right now is that he has narcissistic tendencies and to me that in itself would be enough reason to kill someone, right?

Bear with me: Let's suppose he actually had some sort of long term relationship with Jun Lin who broke-up with Luka and was seeing someone else; Being a true narcissist Luka couldn't accept that he would be dumped just like that! I mean he is Luka Magnotta, nobody dumps him, he is the one who has the right to choose when the relationship will end. I can imagine him thinking while planning the murder 'How dare you not love me anymore and not want me?!" Could be a combo of jealousy + an inflated narcissistic ego. And he lived his life mostly on cyberspace, in a fantasy world he created, so nothing more logical than to share what he did so maybe he would get some validation, attention. This is just one theory.

I really want to know why he did it, what is his logic in all this, what was his mindset, it's so bizarre...:what:

My sense (early on someone per reporter) posted on Twitter that she knew him and that he had just met LM several says earlier, were not lovers. I do not think JL was a specfic target - he was just , sadly, the one who said yes he would come over.
Remember LM asked the movie actor to come up and he declined. I think if the actor came up he would be in the boxes.

IMO LM just had had it, his compulsion to kill, commit necrophelia etc had risen to the point to where he had to take action to reduce his tensions .

I agree that this is a bit of foreshadowing. It's either they made him do it, or the lackthereof made him do it. Maybe not entirely, but they will use it to bolster the defense. Or it very well could have been used to sedate Jun. I was opposed to that argument at first, but after seeing this comment I think it's plausible.

I came across some fan tumblrs and one said they hadn't sent their letter out to him yet because they had chores to do. O.O I think most of them are just immature kids that think it's cool and rebellious. And YouTube comments about having sex with him and stuff like that....

I personally think that feeling like he wasn't good for anything but sex has something to do with the way he is now. I think he tried hard for a long time to get everyones attention in one way or another and they just kept failing. Honestly when I saw him on TV I thought some famous guy had killed someone, just by the way he looked. I have no doubt that he's probably been raped and beaten by people before, probably more than a couple of times.

I was reading about escorts and they make thousands of dollars a week. And if you don't have a 'pimp', chances are GIANT that you will at some point be attacked or robbed or whatever. And I also think that with LM looking the way he does, he'd be the epitome of perfect to older men. He had to have been making good money to be able to travel all over everywhere and rent limos. I understand he filed for bankruptcy and had the fraud charge, but I've known people who will file bankruptcy to get out of paying debt. I think his apartment was a little hole in the wall because he was probably never there. Most of the pics of him are at nice hotels, probably with men who are paying him a lot of money to be there.

Crown prosecutor Louis Bouthillier asked for, and was granted, a publication ban on the type of medication, explaining that “it might become important eventually, I think it might be part of the evidence.”

IMO... it was the medication he should have been taking but wasn't, that made him do it.
