Interestingly enough we haven't heard a peep about the guy in Paris who Magnotta allegedly hooked up with and spent circa 36 hours at the guy's place.

When the story was originally published I initially believed it but that week there was zero additional reporting on it and I posted that I suspected that the entire story was malarkey. I'm betting I'm right.

Has anyone heard anything about the Paris hookup since the initial report?

Is the attire quoted above (minus the glasses) standard prisoner clothing/uniform in the Province?

I ask this because if it's not standard inmate attire, it certainly is not attire that demonstrates respect for the Crown.

They don't require you to wear a suit and pants, but they don't make you wear your prison garb either , so you can dress casual with whatever's available. Some choose the high road or the low road depending on whether they care or not how they look.

You can bet Quebec taxpayers paid for the glasses, ultimately!

Yes, that's been hushed up big time as you said, since it originally broke. I've always wanted more insight into that. I guess we'll find out soon. If true, that testimony would be very interesting.

I'm probably going to have to wait for the trial for this, but another conflict of info I'm awaiting to hear is the actual time he landed in Berlin. There's 2 versions. He left on the bus on friday night around 6pm from Paris and should have arrived noonish Saturday. That seemed the most logical answer, but there's a few conflicting reports, one from the Montreal police who seemed to say he landed in Berlin on the Monday morning, hopped the subway, popped out of the subway at Neukoln and right into the Webcafe where he was nailed. He had no bags or anything with him. What was he up to Sat noon - Monday morning in Berlin? It's a black hole of time unsubstantiated.

Fri, 1 June: LM is in Paris and at 19.30 he takes the Euroline bus to Berlin.
Sat, 2 June: LM arrives in Berlin (ZOB Am Funkturm) at 09.15 am.
Sun, 3 June: He stays with "a friend" in Karl- Marx- Street in Neukölln

I'm surprised that his lawyers (the ones that haven't withdrawn from the case) would not strongly encourage him to wear an outfit that conveys respect and professionalism to the Crown. Jeans, a t-shirt and sneakers could annoy a judge or be viewed as disrespectful.

Maybe clothing choice was part of why the lawyer quit, on the other hand- maybe wearing jeans, tshirt and running shoes might help LM appear younger and more naive...

I think the whole murdering, dismembering and cannibalizing a human being, filming it and promoting the film thing tends to trump the aura of young & naive... That's just my opinion, I could be wrong...

Indeed. We need to remember that what is said in shaming people like Magnotta (who very much deserves it), can inadvertently resonate with others (who don't deserve it, like the other residents of Magnotta's apartment building).

About the clothing - having him looking young and naive could backfire badly. How many escorts are really that naive? Aren't they going to present him as a male escort? They have to say he did something to make a living, don't they?

About the crying - his entire charade of a life is being exposed. I suppose I'd cry as well. Mind you......I have little pity. Perhaps he's crying because it's starting to look like he'll be in a tough prison for life rather than another type of institution. A hospital for the criminally insane is no picnic, but at least they give you drugs and try to keep you comfortable. Prison is another ball game entirely.

No one here is denying he did it. However, he has plead not guilty and must have some defense, whether it is true and believable, or not.

I agree that Magnotta deserves the best defense possible; frankly I believe everyone facing charges in Court deserves the best defense possible.

I apologize if my comment was misconstrued to be interpreted in a manner different than my original intent. I was responding to the notion that the clothing choice may have been to paint Magnotta as naive because most who have followed this case understand that if you exclude the crimes that he is facing trial for, there is still a mountain of evidence from long before and immediately after the murder to demonstrate that Magnotta is not naive in any way. A defense that might try to paint Magnotta as naive is not the best defense possible.
