Thanks Louisepiglet. I personally don't believe that the accomplice (and we don't know if there is one yet) is a known criminal. IMO it's just more fanciful gossip.

If GBC was to get bail do you think they'd allow him to continue having the girls with him?

No, more will surface about this soon.

Just an odd thought while thinking back on other high profile murder case arrests...

The night Daniel Morcombe's killer was arrested last year was on a busy Saturday night in Brisbane when the Ekka was on....that arrest came out of the blue.

Here we have GBC arrested on one of the biggest footy nights of the years.

He really is the most unlikely of suspects? Could he really? I mean come on, to kill someone and hold out for a month, when your best skill is selling real estate. Accident and cover up maybe, but my guess is even the hardened criminal crack within a couple of weeks if pursued by homicide detective. Stay tuned, there is more to come here.

I have asked my contact re bail and they think he will be released on bail.

I hope not.

Being a bricklayer myself, we come second only to taxi drivers on our legal expertise, i don't think he will get bail because.

1. The prosecuters may argue further arrests in this case are expected.
2. It isnt a spur of the moment crime, elements may of been planned.
3. He is now a flight risk because of his familys international friends and family.(we dont want another lord lucan).
4. He's a complete assho**

I pray the police and child protective services in Queensland knows about the Josh Powell case. On a SUPERVISED visit he locked the door in front of the social worker and went in the house and blew it up, with him and the two little boys inside!

The USA learned a lesson via nightmare on that day. May the world remember for the sake of children.

That is truely awful. I don't think Police and protective services will be taking any chances to be honest..just my opinion though

I also asked my contact re: bail and they said "no way."

Guess we'll know next week.

He has been hiding behind his lawyers from day 1.

I am of the opinion that it is more likely stabbing. However bear in mind that the neighbours are not close and not on all sides. Also, how much exactly of a sonic boom are you talking? what is the basis of your thoughts on that? just asking for clarification. (I would not expect any 'sonic boom' to be that loud to alert neighbours and they may not have known what it was.. perhaps scraps or whatever the dogs name is, heard it, lol)

I have many guns here at the house and my husband and I shoot for sport....(We are ex miliatry and livin in the usa-of course I would) no sonic boom usually except maybe when you are shooting great distances in the mountains and it echoes....although some old wwII guns made a hell of a lot of noise....I have used a silencer and yes they do work well-but you still hear some noise....neighbours being so far away would not have heard a thing. The dog would have! now, them m16 rifles used in vietnam were fairly quite (they were made of plastic and supposed to be disposable)...so too the styre...Now getting back to the boom, a double barrell shot gun makes a loud boom noise....but I doubt the idiot would have needed to use one of them...

Now...NBC obviously had a licence for his rifles...I wonder if GBC had a licence too? Police have listings of those registered with guns in Australia so this alone would have given the cops a reason to quickly respond to the call I think

maybe GBC knocked off his fathers pistol without he knowing then told him later....??? therefore, that would make NBC an accomplish after the fact???

ooooohhhh I wish they would give us more info....when do you think the court case will start?

Lol well that is good enough for me.

I hope he doesnt get a chance at bail, that one is out of the QPS hands.

ACCUSED murderer Gerard Baden-Clay could wait up to three years before a court decides his fate.
If the father-of-three is unable to win release on bail in the meantime, he will spend that time in custody among the full range of accused criminals, from burglars to serious violent offenders, at Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre in Wacol.

Baden-Clay, who spent last night at the Roma St watchhouse, will have to wait until after his appearance in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today to apply for bail.

His legal team will apply separately in the Supreme Court for his release into the community, a hearing which could take place within the week.

Expert criminal lawyer Cameron Browne, of Potts Lawyers, said accused murderers rarely won bail because the gravity of the alleged offence was a judge's core consideration.

Ok, now my excitement has turned to tears. Those poor girls. The whole situation is devastating. Sorry guys about my emotions but that news hit me straight in the face and I while I happy about the arrest,I'm not as happy as I thought. I had my feelings it was him of course but all I can think about is the girls, how traumatizing for them. They are with the Dickies which is nice but this will be so painful for all involved.
I haven`t read any posts today and due to my high emotions today may be better for me to just read.
I am sorry for those that truly believed in his innocence but as many of us have said who else was there?
Sorry kimster, off topic but I just felt I could share my feelings this morning. Off to have a strong coffee. Hope everyone is ok today x

It's okay. :therethere: I felt the same way.

As Gerard has done from the start...he will say nothing. His lawyers will make it hard to find a decent unbiased jury. There is so much circumstantial evidence so they will say his client is innocent unless they can prove it beyond reasonable doubt.

The hope... The police have something up there sleeve.

Yes they have IMO Gerard thinks he has a Full House (in poker) but the QPS have 4 Aces.........beats all hands...........

I hope that rumour doesn't turn out to be true. There must have been a significant amount of blood found in the car if it is true they are searching for blood at the house. They also could be testing for urine that was a result of post mortem release. That could confirm that she passed away at the house. jmo

Hey Limaes, I don't think there would have to have been a significant amount of blood in the car. It may only have been a few drops. It may also have been sponged and not visible to the naked eye. Remember, the car was impounded for forensic testing and they would have gone over it with a fine tooth comb.

I agree with you about urine. Apparently it is quite common for a deceased person to expel urine shortly after death. This may also have been found in the car and the house.

MOO.

Very interesting story with much more information than we've been used to, and good facts about what could happen in terms of the process of the case.

My thoughts too regarding the neighbours not hearing, but the dog possibly..all just guessing though as we don't know if it is COD..just one of a couple of ideas..

Court case I really don't know.. lets hope it won't drag out too long. But it can often be a lengthy process.

Mr Baden-Clay was taken to the Indooroopilly Police Station for questioning yesterday afternoon and charged with murder.

The 41-year-old is not believed to have given a formal interview yesterday, but consented to a forensic procedure for a sample of his DNA. He is expected to face Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
