Just got home from work and heard the news of the arrest.
Those poor little girls. They must be so confused. Their Daddy, who they love, kiled their Mummy. So sad.

The rumour that the accomplice is a known criminal makes me wonder if this is a case of murder for hire. In an earlier thread it was mentioned that the murder was planned for a later date but it happened earlier because an opportunity arose. Maybe GBC decided to handle it himself.
Another thought - maybe police had received information prior to Allison going missing, about someone wanting to have their wife murdered. When GBC reported Allison missing maybe alarm bells started to ring and that is why the police reacted so fast.
These are only theories and MOO. Just putting it out there.

It is unlikely that a firearm, even with a silencer attached, was used to commit the murder. Silencers will soften the sound of a firearm being discharged, but do little to reduce the noise created by the sonic boom caused when the bullet exits the barrel. Hollywood will have us believe that a silencer makes the residual noise of a firearm being discharged almost undetectable or whisper quiet - in real life, the results are far less dramatic.

All my own opinion, of course.

I am of the opinion that it is more likely stabbing. However bear in mind that the neighbours are not close and not on all sides. Also, how much exactly of a sonic boom are you talking? what is the basis of your thoughts on that? just asking for clarification. (I would not expect any 'sonic boom' to be that loud to alert neighbours and they may not have known what it was.. perhaps scraps or whatever the dogs name is, heard it, lol)

agreed MW, its just a bit beyond the pale listening to certain people saying 'its not about the kids'! you would have to be off your rocker to think that this has nothing to do with the kids. dad kills mum, dads goes to jail = extremely vulnerable and distraught little souls...
just very poor taste for anyone to even think along those lines

Hats off too you, couldn't have said it better myself

I drove past the house earlier this evening, there were a couple of police cars, plus several other white vehicles, at least being a sort of small truck with doors at the back, like a custom utility with a covered tray of some kind. The front yard and driveway was full of vehicles. Definitely something going on ... As GBC had already been questioned during the afternoon, and they had already searched the house at the start while it was a crime scene,

What can this mean? GBC has revealed something during his questioning? Either voluntarily or accidentally. Otherwise why where they there tonight - there would be no reason why they would have not have searched for anything else at the beginning when they had the chance?

Alternatively, maybe since they have been investigating, since the house had the crime scene tape removed, maybe they have uncovered other info that evoked a need for further searching or testing at the house. But they didnt do it, while playing their cards close to their chest so they could get their ducks in a row and then swoop and arrest him. Depends on what it is they are looking for this time.

You know it strikes me as odd that the girls were taken from school to the ferny grove cop shop whilst their father was being squeezed for info at indro cop shop?

My friend suggested to me that ferny grove is where the social workers for child protection may be at.....so, perhaps one of the girls mentioned something their earlier then they swooped upon GBC at toowong and hammered him for info whilst searching the house????

who knows...but more importantly....I think Paul Tully's blog about the immunity being granted may point to the father's NBC involvement and subsequent confession of something....IMHO

Geez, you'd have to be pretty brazen to think you'd get away with stabbing in your own home, forensic evidence and all, lots of blood. I would have thought suffocation, drowning or strangulation to be less messy, and more managable.

hmm, unless there is a 'hired' person... and GBC can truley say he didn't do it. But we don't actually know for sure Allison was killed in her home do we?

Anyway, I could be wrong..Just MOO, based on media and police reports and reading between the lines.

Ferny Grove must have a CPIU......Child Protection Investigation Unit.

I haven't posted for awhile, but I have to say seeing GBCs face on TV today while doing the dishes I ran faster than Cathy Freeman to find out the news, the news he was being charged with Allison's murder.

Most of us knew it from day 1 he was involved somehow. I hope he doesn't get bail, I hope he rots in jail and he gets every nasty thing he deserves in jail.

IMO of course.

RIP Allison.

Perhaps I am over thinking after the big news tonight, but this has me confused. The children have been pretty much been living with Nigel & Elaine at their home. Why would authorities take them from this home and place them with Allison's parents? Are the children being kept away from that house because more arrests will take place from there?

Possibly also when Gerard gets released on bail he would be with the children. I think it is better for the childrens safety to be away from there. Any man capable of killing his childrens mother is caoable of anything. IMO

I just got here after hearing from Detect that they charged GBC!

Oh those poor girls and Allison's parents! :tears:

This is my first reaction - now off to read more about what happened and your comments!!!

Thank God you came! I really wanted you to be here tonight, you are our Sleuthing Goddess, and our sometimes stern mother hen.

GERARD Baden-Clay spent last night behind bars after being charged with the murder of his wife Allison.
Nearly two months after phoning police to say the woman he called his ``angel'' had disappeared, he was taken into police custody and charged him with causing her death.

The real estate agent arrived at Indooroopilly police station yesterday afternoon where he met head of homicide Detective Superintendent Brian Wilkins and the top cop in charge of the drawn-out investigation, Detective Superintendent Mark Ainsworth.

Police asked The Courier-Mail to move back and blocked the driveway with their cars while investigators scoured the property with torches.

Where do the Dickie's live? I read Ferny Grove or are they still out in Redbank?

It was stated in main stream media tonight with news of the arrest.. it is not forum hearsay. Channel 7 for one did report it.

Correct. And they also said that they had police permission to release this information.

In another report online (Courier Mail, I think), it was stated that the police knew on Saturday 21 April (the day after Allison was reported missing) where she was murdered. Sorry I don't have a link to this as the online report has now been wiped and updated. (Wish they wouldn't do that!).

IMO that indicates that she was either murdered in the house or in one of the cars and there must have been enough evidence, both visible and otherwise for police to come to this conclusion. So they knew from Saturday, 21 April that they were looking for Allison's body.

My thought on the girls being taken to Ferny Grove is that they just wanted them to be seperate from where GBC was. they did not want to do this in front of them. It was reported they descended on his work and arrested him at 3pm. School finishing time. So at the same time I would guess they were getting the girls and had the Dickies on their way to pick up the girls. The Police possibly just told the girls along the line of their father was helping them more with their questions.(not that they had arrested him for their mothers murder) . IMO

I think a true narcissist would actually believe they have not done anything wrong. That is why they can never be helped, because they cannot see that they are in fact narcissistic. Probs one reason he has kept his mouth shut all this time.

Do not think anyone in family would roll at all especially not NBC.

He was regularly quoted in media reports about the real estate market.

``In business, it's simple: never lie,'' he said in 2008. ``For starters, it's the wrong thing to do but secondly you will always get caught out and usually when you least expect it.

``There are just too many people, too many personalities, too many trails . . . and too much to lose.''

I have asked my contact re bail and they think he will be released on bail.

I hope not.

Thank you. yes I suspected as much from almost the get go they were looking for a body. Obviously they could not come out and say that at the time. it will be interesting to hear what other information they have kept to themselves as information does finally trickle out.

Morning Kimster...good to see an arrest has been made though bittersweet it is for the girls & Allisons's parents.

Maybe it is because GBCs parent are traumatised by his arrest and are not in any fit state to care for the children. IMO
