ARREST!!! Australia - Allison Baden-Clay, Brisbane QLD, 19 April 2012 -#24

If the QPS were investigating me thoroughly, for 2 months, and I had retained a distinguished lawyer...and my wife had gone for a walk and never came back alive , yea.. I would be planning for such an event from day 1 . My family would be , too.

And certainly, my well paid lawyer would be. It would, in fact, be his/her high-on-the-list priority. The lawyer is the one whom the police communicate with , should they need to, and I am pretty sure some communication took place.. like.. would Gerard give us a DNA sample? please ask your client to supply fiscal records, can you client tell us exactly and precisely where he last saw the deceased? etc..

No matter what we think our family may or may not do. It really is difficult with certainty to know how another will react. Given different dynamics and the like. It is quite possible they were in denial that this would eventuate the way it has. (sub consciously they may have had questions, that their conscious mind would not allow)

As for the lawyer and Police conversations, again we can't really know what has taken place there or how police have played this out to those involved during their investigations.

It is so disheartening and so vile for the SES personell to search for a person when the ambience is one of a body being hidden by another person.. Its a dreadful horrible game of hide and seek and 24 hours a day for 11 days is just beyond despicable. SES personell usually have a very good idea if they are going to achieve a happy ending or a very very repugnant one.. it has a tremendous effect on them.

My partner, who is in the SES had this experience, searching for hopefully a live person that quickly turned into a dead one, in terrible circumstances, and worse, the killer was in fact part of the SES search, a long term volunteer, who actually had the nerve to join in the search, knowing all the time the young girl was buried not far from his home in the opposite direction *( he had thrown her mobile phone 20klms away) His poor father was in fact director of that particular area of the SES as well.

that was it for my friend. Never again, and he hasnt, either. It broke him , and I believe it breaks others just as much eventually.

One of the SES boats which was not part of the search went up Kholo Ck within 100 metres of ABC's final location on a training mission over the weekend before she was found. Annoying......a deliberate silence, allowing for resources to be used looking in the wrong place, and dumb luck that a canoeist/kayaker happened to go far enough on an innocent paddle and come across her. When I think of all my friends, police and SES, who willingly gave up their time with their own families to help locate ABC, it makes me very angry. Criminal charges are appropriate IMO.

Anyway, I'm confused. Who said OW's children weren't at the funeral? I just went back through the photos and her two eldest children are in them. IMO the children were at the funeral. At least the elder two were. Haven't found the youngest in a photo yet.

There would have been, from Day One.

There was never another suspect.

The day this story first broke my first thought was "not another one" - meaning, not another spousal murder!

WHYYYYY do they think they can get away with it? Because they think they are SMART and the police are STUPID. Vanity and conceit.

I have nothing but praise for the Qld police. Such a rapid arrest means essentially, he's guilty and they have rock solid proof. That is why he presented himself to the Police Station to be arrested. He knows he's been caught. I suppose we should be thankful he didn't decide his kids were a problem as well.

Stupid, stupid, evil man. How many lives ruined just because HE didn't want to pay for a divorce? I hope they put him in gen pop and throw away the key...him and his bint.

SapphireSteel, Its been reported in the media GBC did not front up to the Police station himself to be arrested. Police went to his office at Toowong and took him to the police station where he met with Det. Ainsworth and others.( He was arrested a few hours later)

But even if it does, as I said much earlier, the family are obsessed with their name (which is a deed poll change anyway) and their ancestry. They wanted the notoriety. Well, they got it! No-one will ever forget that name now, and whatever the courts decide, the court of public opinion has already passed judgement based on the state of his franchise. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. JMO.

It is understood Mr Baden-Clay was arrested at his real estate office in Toowong Tower about 3pm.

I hope the girls will be able/want to change there surname for the future. With such a distinctive name and the notoriety that it is conjurred up so far any chance of somewhat normal life is pretty remote. IMO

A friend of my family in the USA was killed last week after going for a jog with her sister. Very sad. Her unborn baby was also killed as a result. The differences were that it was a stranger who killed her (random robbery) and secondly the penalty will be FAR greater. Our punishments here are so lax in comparison. Murder is what? Approx 20 years?

Thank you. I didn't know her or her family but my family do. I still feel incredibly sad. Similar to Allison in that she was just a good Mum with gorgeous, loving kids, community minded and going about her business. The big difference is she had an adoring husband who will miss her like crazy. Completely no need for her to be gone. Her murderer will be looking at the death penalty. Huge difference in consequences...

I'm not it's too far to travel when it's only for bail anyway. And whether i was to turn up or not it's not going to make any difference to the result.
