Hopefully if others get charged then someone will be willing to testify and then other charges can be filed.

I can think of no other reason why this dirt monger would have taken her. So I do hope other charges will be piled on once they can prove it.

Oh I so agree and unfortunately he is not the type to know when the jig is up just plead guilty. I swear some either like the attention, etc. or just want to get out of their cell.

It seems some families in these kind of tragedies want a trial to know exactly what happened and other's don't. I pray for the Bobo's.

Agreed. NEVER go quietly. And get as much DNA as you possibly can...scratch, bite, pull hair , etc.

Didn't the neighbor say she heard a scream, but many people didn't believe her?

But of course, no one else could hear her once they got into the woods, so we'll probably never know how much she fought back. I'm sure she did.

Well, she did argue, didn't she? Clint has always said he heard an argument in the garage. She probably tried to run back into the house, but was blocked from it.

I don't care how brave someone is ordinarily, when that knife comes out fear takes over and she was probably just trying to survive. I think some things are out of a victim's control, and if we start putting it back on Holly, then it's blaming the victim for not screaming enough or running away. This guy was a LOT bigger than her.

I don't believe anyone here is trying to lay blame on any victims of violence. Just discussing proactive steps a victim may be able to take, if, God forbid, they are ever in such a situation. There's no right answer across the board, of course. Situations vary.

I know - I probably need to take a break from this. It's been a long day!

But I believe she probably did fight back - most women do. He might have shot her or hit her as she tried to get away, for all we know.

Doesn't automatically mean relatives...could be distant family, friends, friends of friends, co-workers, employers, etc etc.

Consanguinity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Consanguinity ("blood relation", from the Latin consanguinitas) is the property of being from the same kinship as another person. In that respect, consanguinity is the quality of being descended from the same ancestor as another person.
Also, some jurisdictions prohibit individuals from serving on a jury in which they have a certain degree of consanguinity with the defendant.[4]

For a long time after my sister's death I was anti-gun and afraid of guns. Which, I think, was natural. Now, however, I am a strong proponent of self defense. I took the steps to get a concealed carry permit, train on a regular basis (was at the range today) and will never let myself be a victim again. I'd rather die trying to defend myself, or make some dirt bag die trying to hurt me, than just die by doing nothing.

I have always been a strong proponent for carrying a firearm and having firearms in our home ......secured of course. I grew up around guns and was never afraid of them but did have an immense amount of respect knowing the power they had.

I have had a conceal weapon permit since I was in my early 20s. It saved my life one time when three thugs tried to run me off the road late at night when I was coming home from work. One of the three was yelling out the passenger window of the truck telling me all the vulgar things they were going to do to me.

I was scared to death on the inside but I didn't let them see that. I took my weapon out slowly, aimed, and fired at the bottom of the door on the passenger side. They couldn't speed away fast enough. I called police and they found them and the truck. I had given them a description of the truck and told them it would have a bullet hole in the passenger side door. So they couldn't dare say they weren't the ones because the bullet hole was right there for all to see.:)

If I had not acted fast I truly believe they would have stopped me, and raped me, and would have probably thrown me in a ditch somewhere after they killed me.

I still carry my weapon in certain parts of town if I have to go some place and I am still an ace shot. If anyone tried to harm me or any of my family members, I would not sit idly by and be a victim. ,

Holly was a hunter too so she knew how to shoot. I wish she had had an opportunity to protect herself, and instead of her winding up dead, I wish she would have been able to shoot him dead right there...instead.

I need to unwind and try to put some of this emotion back into perspective. Everyone have a good, safe, evening. Try to take some comfort in knowing the truth is finally coming out after all these years.

Let's all be honest.... There was no way she would be found alive. I hope the police will be able to put these criminals to justice!

I agree. Not speaking specifically to this case. Nobody expects to be overpowered leaving their own home steps away from their vehicle. Young and with an important test on their mind. I think that has to be the worst scenario to even react. Yet maybe we need to realize this. Not placing any blame etc. We so often think of crimes such as this walking home, in a parking lot etc.

They believe she was killed in the process of the kidnapping...so at some point, perhaps Holly fought~and hard. I hope so. I don't believe they kept her alive long anyway..because the huge public outcry became massive. It was all over the National News immediately. I don't think they would risk keeping her somewhere.

Those situations happen far more than we may think and many legal gun owners have stopped violent crimes from happening.

It wont work out every time because as you said every situation is different but lives are saved far more often than the media likes for us to know.

Most media sites are anti-gun so they aren't going to report on normal everyday citizens who stopped crimes from happening by having a firearm with them.
