Just my 2 cents, but I think anyone who believes this perp is going to walk or get off with a light sentence has no idea how high-profile this case is locally. If found guilty, my sense is he's going to spend the rest of his short life in the slam, no two ways about it.

:jail:

I believe people held that same opinion about another maniacal killer............think her name was......hmmm... Casey Anthony !!

I can't see him getting away with it. He lacks any of the possible attributes. Even a smooth charmer like Ted Bundy got convicted. I can't see ZA winning over the jury with dashing good looks and compelling charm. It will be the kind of case where it is real hard to come up with an excuse. You don't accidentally go to someone's house and kidnap them from their driveway... And there is no other activity you could be doing that would allow that to happen by accident. Its not like he was driving and swerved off the road and hit someone...

LOL Who could forget that whole "mess" for lack of better words. No disrespect to poor little Caylee who was murdered. Holly has the support of a community as a loved and productive member. Casey. Not so much. That was Florida this is now.

You guys need to leave the Adams family alone. I know everyone is upset and wants to blame someone, but evil can come from any family. Unless they come out with some information on the mainstream media that they were at fault, we need to be respectful to them.

I share your opinion, Bravo. In fact, much to some people's dismay, I hold defense attorneys (in general) in very high regard. They play a vital role in our justice system, in that they force the prosecution to prove innocence beyond a reasonable doubt. What terrifies me more than a guilty person getting off scott-free, is an innocent person being deprived of their liberty because they had a crappy lawyer (or a biased jury). That ought to scare the crap out of every citizen who values their liberty.

Thanks. Yes and we are all entitled to a fair Trial and Defense. Again even when I "know" an evil has committed evil I want a good Defense. I got to witness a really good Defense Lawyer here in a high profile Canadian Case. I actually liked him. No maters please. Spoke with him a few times. He provided a fair Defense. There were no Baez antics. It was the rape and murder of an 8 year old girl. The rape could not be proven from the remains but it was evident by other forensics etc. etc. Not to derail the topic. Baez was a disgrace. It was about winning. Nothing more and nothing less. Many cases are fair and just. We just don't hear about them as often.

They might be able to prove sexual assault if he took pictures or videos of the assault (hate to type that) or if they find his semen on an article of Holly's clothing (if they find her clothing), particularly if it's on her underwear. Some of these sickos keep their victims' underwear as trophies.

Possibly.

It may have degraded after this long but I hope not if there is evidence there. It wouldn't surprise me either if he did take photos to keep as a trophy.

Do I like to think about Holly being raped?:( Absolutely not, it breaks my heart totally but what other motive could ZA have had to kidnap and then murder Holly who didn't even hang around him?

I don't even consider him someone she even knew well. Holly would not be one to hang out with a meth head violent loser imo.

And I have read many articles over the years when an adult female is kidnapped and later found to have been murdered the motive of the suspect is almost always to sexually assault the victim. ETA: Unless the female was taken and murdered by a spouse/ex or boyfriend/ex boyfriend.

I just think we have to be realistic no matter how much it hurts us.

Look at the women he does hang around with. That is the type of women ZA had that was attracted to him. Druggies, and liars just like him. Holly was beautiful and wholesome. Someone who was way out of his league and he knew it and the only way he would ever be with her was to force her, imo.

IMO

People forget too that the ones that do "get off" in court, like Casey Anthony, don't win because of a stellar defense. They get off because the prosecution botched things up and blew an otherwise solid case. Happens all the time when they make things overly complicated, fail to instruct the jury properly, etc. The defense doesn't really have to do very much at all. The prosecution has to prove everything.

And, while its easy to pick out a case like Anthony's from a few years ago, there are good, solid, convictions made in every county in every state pretty much every day.

I agree. The whole thing makes me wonder exactly what LE has on this guy, though. I doubt CB can positively id him, and even if he tried to do so in court, a defense attorney would rip him to shreds over the "I thought it was Drew" statements. What else could put him at the scene of the kidnapping? His blood or DNA, I guess...if there was any, and IF he had never been to the Bobo home before. If LE can't directly place him at the Bobo home on the day Holly was kidnapped, then they MUST have found something in his home that not only indicates that Holly was there (because a defense attorney would hop all over that) but that she suffered great bodily harm or death at that location. That means, in my mind, LE either has DNA evidence or remains. I just don't know what else it could be, do you?

I have never disliked all defense attorneys in general. Without them the wheels of justice would never move. They are as vital to the justice system as the prosecutors.

There have been a few over the years that I thought were unethical and overstepped their boundaries but some of the best attorneys I have seen were defense attorneys.

I want ZA to have a fair trial with a fair and impartial jury. That is the only way for the system to work. Plus it cuts the appellate issues way down as well if they should be convicted.

I wonder how much of his history a jury will get to hear.

On the 6 pm news, channel 5 out of Nashville, they will have update on ZA and they showed an image of Zach Adams in camo.

I know we are getting off topic here and will probably get our hand spanked.:D

But I disagree. The state put on a stellar case in CAs trial and it should have ended in a first degree conviction.

But when you have jurors that say they never even watch any news but watch CSI shows and reality tv instead then you are going to have jurors that will drink the 'Baez drama reality show' koolaid he gave them.

It reminds me of the Durst case when the jurors found him not guilty because LE could not find the victim's head that Durst had cut off.

There will always be a few weird jury verdicts but they are few and far between thank goodness.

Probably very little, unless he takes the stand and opens himself up for impeachment.

ETA: I do wonder, though, if prosecution would be able to bring up priors for violence against women, since this would be a similar crime. I don't know the answer to that.

Not much I don't think. The Judge will rule it is either irrelevant or too prejudicial for the jurors to hear.

Now if he is convicted all of it will come in during the sentencing phase. Then the jury will know how bad this dude really is.

Playing defense attorney for a moment: So what? This is a rural area of the south, most men own/wear camo.

Agree. Willing to admit I didn't hold Defense Atty's in high regard for some time. Spending time on boards over many years has opened my eyes.

I think some good reporter should line up that rap sheet and name the judges, magistrates, attorneys, and anybody who let this man wreak havoc on this community and who allowed him to get his hand slapped one time too many. I wonder if anybody is squirming or if they don't even remember him.

I've been guilty of slipping into the US vs THEM mentality from time to time. Especially when I'm convinced of guilt. Sometimes it's difficult NOT to view the defense as the bad guy, especially when you are emotionally invested in the outcome of a case. When I get to that point, I force myself to take a big step back and look at the big picture. And I make stiff drinks. LOL!
