I apologize if this had been posted in this thread and I missed it. Just curious where he was apprehended? I know Rockford, IL. But where specifically? Was he at work? The address of his condo in Chicago is appx a 1hr 45min drive from Rockford and, online it shows he has a PO Box in Cherry Valley, IL, a sleepy little town right outside of Rockford, IL. I ask because my great Aunt lives in Rockford and she was asking. Thank you.

It’s certainly possible, but at that point, a masked man has already broken into your property. Why wouldn’t this person ask for help at the front door?

I think this approach would be more likely to trigger a call to LE. I’m more of the opinion that he got inside undetected somehow and ambushed them upstairs. [BBM]

I should have included in my fake scenario my person banging on the door was feigning an “emergency” in the alley. Everyone seems to think MM came in from back. I’ve lived in neighborhoods with alleys. We kept our super cans back there and I’ve been known to dump trash late at night making myself vulnerable to potential attack or intruder. People also walked their dogs in our alleys and used them for shortcuts.

I agree this “help me” scenario is probably unlikely and feel, like you, @warp3dwing, that he got in undetected and waited to ambush them. OMO.

I don't believe we know specifically where he was arrested. Just reports that his "vehicle was later found near his workplace in Rockford, Ill".

Haven't heard much more about the dog other than he was unharmed and is with family. I'm surprised he didn't alert since most likely he did not know MM. But maybe he did and Spencer got up to see what was going on and that's why he was found beside the bed.

This was just coming out of Covid and all the restrictions that went with large gatherings, etc. I knew several couples who married in a private ceremony in 2020 and then held a larger ceremony/reception in 2021 with family and friends present. So essentially two dates - the actual marriage and the larger ceremony. Perhaps this was the case with the Tepes? (Speculation only, I have no idea whether this is actually the case.)

Not a doubt in my mind that this was the case. I have friends of friends of the Tepes who did exactly this…all the rage for early to mid 30s in Columbus in ‘20-‘21. Some people had an original wedding date planned that moved once shifting to respecting Covid conventions, while others didn’t have a date planned at the start of 2020, but after making it through the stressful year together, realized they were ready for marriage. Do we know how long the Tepes had been engaged?

They were the first owners though, as far as I know. What bugs the hell out of me is how he deactivated it, or how he knew it wasn't activated in the first place. Even if he got creative with his entry, he shouldn't have known that certain areas weren't alarmed. I just don't get it.

Thought just occurred to me. What if he snuck in during the day and unlocked, or fixed something so it would appear locked when it was not? But I'm sure they would have video if that were the case....I'll have to wait and see what they have. As in the Idaho 4 case, it's obviously more than we are seeing, imo.

ETA: Also, was there confirmation that there was an alarm or that it was activated?

“Larry” the dog is about 10 years old and was Spencer’s pet. He was at their wedding and mentioned in Spencer’s vows.

“Larry” the dog is about 10 years old and was Spencer’s pet. He was at their wedding and mentioned in Spencer’s vows.

He as in Spencer. Spencer getting up to see what was going on would put Spencer beside the bed (not in it), it wouldn't put the dog beside the bed.

Does anyone know why the three men who went to check on the Tepes entered through the back door? Allegedly, they got a door code from a neighbor, so if that’s true, why not go in the front door? Would rear ingress require hopping the fence?

I am rather confused about Monique buying the engagement and wedding rings. My first reaction to someone doing this would be that the lady was incredibly keen to get married. (Umpteen years ago I knew a young lady who ordered a catalogue of engagement rings to show her boyfriend - it worked!) But I can't see Monique doing that, I think it must just been that at the time she could afford it and he couldn't.

I have seen this reported several times. However, when reading the divorce papers (many pages) the engagement and wedding rings are clearly written in his handwriting when he is describing expenses on his pages. (I don't even want to write his name). Monique's handwriting is so different and she did not list them on her pages. So I think someone must have just thought it was her writing that but there are his and her pages of expenses, etc. on the papers.

Think this is the first news source I've seen referencing the family suspected him from the beginning. As many on here have speculated.
