OH - Spencer and Monique Tepe found shot to death at home 2 children unharmed, Columbus, 30 December 2025 *ex-husband arrested*

This makes me think that he did not enter the home through the front door. Sure, he could have walked all around the house, but I'm thinking if he was seen in an alley next to their home (behind it?) that that is where he gained entrance. Do these houses have keyed locks on both front and back doors?

a person of interest was recorded on a security camera walking in an alley next to their home, the police department said last week.

Circumstantial is all you need for probable cause, it’s about the “probability.” That you committed a crime or about to commit a crime…
Probable cause for an arrest warrant, he was likely seen on CCTV camera getting out of his car or getting in or both near the crime scene. they have the plate info and likely plate readers or some other surveillance that tracked him , then located that same car within his possession (and as the owner). Within a reasonable amount of time from crime travel etc./..to believe the probability that he did it, it’s only enough to get an arrest warrant not convict. The DA will do that,
You want enough to arrest, then you’ll have time to build the case gather evidence etc for trial.
You dont have to prove your case in 10 days to get a killer off the streets
Thats my Cole’s notes version, Im sure a cop or lawyer will explain it better.
What was seen is:

Michael McKee was arrested in the fatal shootings of Monique Tepe, 39, and Spencer Tepe, 37, after he was linked to a vehicle seen on surveillance footage in the Columbus, Ohio, neighborhood around the time of the killings, according to the complaint filed in Franklin County Municipal Court.

Investigators were able to identify a suspect through neighborhood surveillance footage, according to the complaint. Detectives then linked the suspect to a vehicle that arrived just before the murders and left shortly after, according to the complaint

I heard someone say you could dust the keypad and see what buttons were pushed regularly. Then with 4 numbers you could try different codes and find it. Someone also said theres a Youtube telling you how to break the code on those mechanisms
Mine cannot have fingerprints found on it, just smudges at best, it's made with a special texture/finish. I have three codes I rotate through so any smudges are all over. I don't know what they had.

But, and back to if there is any evidence of MM being around previously, I sometimes take my trash out and leave the door open until I get back. If a piece of clear tape is placed over the bolt so it won't come out, the keypad warns you that the bolt is not engaged. But if the bolt is set on auto engage and I walked away coming back in the house, I might not hear the warning as it's a triple beep once only. As a far-fetched way someone could get in.

In addition, my specific electronic lock also has a key, for emergency purposes. I can pick most house key locks in about 12 seconds (mine is no exception) and I'm not a locksmith nor do I have lock picking specific tools. If you know how, you know how. If their lock also had a key, and MM knew how that would be that, imo.

As an off topic comment, this is why I have the fold over locks for when I am inside. Two, eye and knee level.

for a short time he was a surgeon with Las Vegas Surgical Associates here in Las Vegas Nevada this was a few years ago and he has a pending malpractice law suit in the courts from a patient..
That lawsuit might of the routine and standard sort.

I spoke to an Emergency Room Physician at a party once. He told me that he no longer keeps track. Rather, insurance takes over and he often is not required to testify. The case is settled, probably for a "standard" type amount. The insurance company then passes it on to consumers.

Yes exactly that , Thanks @Gemmie
I shouldn’t have said likely, sounds like Im guessing, when I knew all that from reading the docs. Just trying to explain it,
you dont need absolute proof, you need to show/prove its probable.

Think this is the first news source I've seen referencing the family suspected him from the beginning. As many on here have speculated.

"A family source told The U.S. Sun they welcome the arrest and were sure it would be her ex-husband who was accused, but did not want to interfere with the police investigation."

I say news source lightly given it's The Sun...

Family of murdered dentist & wife break silence on arrest of ex-husband
i assume they knew right away and confirmed with the video. Just kept quiet until he was apprehended. Must have been stressful as he could have been coming after other family.

This possibility that he has not yet passed his Boards may hold a key if true.

He seemed to be one of those people that just slides into success. I’ve read (no links) that he was an excellent football player in high school. Good-looking too. Future Doctor!

After OSU, he must have been highly regarded there and have had the grades for their medical school. His residency and fellowship follow on time, in well-regarded competitive places. Now all he has to do is pass those two Boards.

By now, he would have taken it more than once. But there’s a time limit and a limited number of retakes.,I think he could still be employed, doing diagnostic work as his employers wait for him to pass . But what stress! What humiliation among his peers!

I wonder if he hasn’t had some kind of mental break…like those who shoot at police so they will be killed. Death by an horrific double murder…the State will take him out of his misery.

As a physician, he had to get fingerprinted. Maybe that. Yeah I guess living in another state he’d have no reason to be there but it’s still circumstantial evidence.
He has family in Zanesville, perhaps he was going to use that as his alibi for being in Cbus. Zanesville is about an hour east. But he is said to be estranged from them. At least it is some sort of alibi perhaps.

OMG!!! The dog can’t talk, please post link where the Police state that the dog was found beside the bed!
The dog wasn't found beside the bed, it said SPENCER was found dead beside the bed! I opined that maybe Spencer heard the dog reacting and got up from bed and was shot.

True but I’d be a little surprised if it wasn’t. I personally don’t think I’ve ever heard of people having a sign in their yard to just fake having security. Not saying it can’t or doesn’t happen but not sure how common that is (maybe it is and I just don’t know). Forgetting to arm it every night I can see though.

moo
Actually, it really is quite common, especially in larger cities. My daughter had an ADT sign in her front yard that she purchased from eBay.

Yes. It would be much less risky to go to the back of the house?

Any guesses on how he proceeds? Does he make this a quick deal, confess, plea, and end it? Or does he fight it all along the way? From extradition back to Ohio all the way to a jury trial?

Vascular surgery requires a fellowship beyond general surgery, That used to be a 5plus 1 deal but now there are some 5 year combined tracks. I’m not sure what Carilion offers.

Very few Drs own their own practices right out of fellowship these days. More commonly, they join group practices that have a path to being a ‘partner’ or co-owner in time. It would seem like the accused graduated Med School in 2017…that would put him in his first real job in 2022. He would not be carrying any ownership financial responsibility….and since he appears to have changed jobs, would not yet be a ‘partner.’

Also, most vulnerable specialties have employer malpractice to the hilt.

Changing jobs is not necessarily a negative in any way. Certain specialities are in high demand and sort of like football today, if you have a prestigious resume or are in a field with more jobs than docs… you will still be ‘pursued’ in those cases.

IMO. therefore, there is no sign of any professional breakdown…yet. I don’t see him as ‘down and out.’ So, I’m curious about another trigger. He doesn’t seem to have tried to get a job near Columbus if obsessed with her…and there are many in his specialty. So what was the trigger?

As far as the divorce, at the end of MedSchool, you enter The Match. You hope to match with one of the residencies in yr specialty that you want…but you both must pick each other. If you don’t match, at the conclusion, you move on to what is still open. I wonder if she wanted to stay in Columbus, but he didn’t match. Or he did match where HE wanted to go in Va…but that meant leaving her family, her job, and the city she loved?

So he goes to Va and that’s the end of a long romance and marriage. Three years later, she finds a new husband who will drive 1 1/2 hrs to let her live in the city she loves. He does not try to locate where he can stalk her, or try to win her back. So what set him off after 8 long years?

When was the wedding video put online…before or after the murders?
The wedding video has been online for four years.

Someone mentioned using a blue light or black uv light to prehaps see numbers frequently pressed 🤔
Wow! I had no clue that was even possible. What a frightening prospect for anyone who has this lock.

Is the garage separate or is there entry to the house through it? Just thinking, perhaps the garage was accidentally left unlocked.

From the photos of their home online. Links are a few pages back. IMO

Has it been confirmed that he failed his boards and was not practicing medicine at the time of the murders? I may have misunderstood your post but it would certainly shed light on his state of mind if true.
