OH - Spencer and Monique Tepe found shot to death at home 2 children unharmed, Columbus, 30 December 2025 *ex-husband arrested*

I thought maybe he let the dog out when he entered the property. JMO
Some dogs will just bark if you leave them outside at night. Which might have awakened the neighbors. So that might have been risky to let the dog out.

I don't know what happened with the dog. Maybe the dog barked and woke up the Tepes?

Interesting literature if anyone is interested in a bit of reading

Related to MM possibly having the door lock code: every time I use the outdoor keypad for our garage door opener, I am aware someone nearby could potentially note the pattern of my fingers as I press the numbers.

This may sound too paranoid but I’ve also wondered if MM could have strategically hidden a spy camera on a tree or utility pole where he could observe the homeowners pressing the keys and learn their code. MOO.
How MM gained entrance into the home is a major question and I think we should consider all possibilities. This was a smart, determined, obsessive man with resources.

My question: would a hidden camera give the close up needed to gain the door code? And the T's could always change the code before he actually committed the crime, so it was not a sure thing.

I suppose a camera would also give MM details about the comings and goings of the Tepes and friends/family, etc.

And obviously MM is sick enough to enjoy the idea of a spy camera.

Could a recording device have picked up the gunshots? Or perhaps they have time when the back door was opened.
If either MT or ST wore an apple watch to sleep there will be evidence of when the gun was fired. It will show the exact time and the watch documents when there are loud noises.

How so? I do not see anything indicating that in "Summary Statement of Facts in Support of Probable Cause".

As I read it they only got him based on the neighbors camera, and subsequent cameras tracing him walking back to a car registered to Monique's ex husband. When they located the car in IL, he was in possession of it so they arrested him. Anyway that's what they explained for probable cause.
As a physician, he had to get fingerprinted. Maybe that. Yeah I guess living in another state he’d have no reason to be there but it’s still circumstantial evidence.

I heard someone say you could dust the keypad and see what buttons were pushed regularly. Then with 4 numbers you could try different codes and find it. Someone also said theres a Youtube telling you how to break the code on those mechanisms

I think me might find out he was stalking monique and prehaps other family members

I had also wondered in hindsight if they stayed at moniques sisters on Christmas as a safety measure

Also tying in with someone in the community hearing banging on her own door days or weeks prior . Could it be mckee tried earlier to locate them but wasn't successful

This.

I wonder if he'd tried contacting her over the years. Sending her an occasional email over the years, asking to stay in touch. If so, she may have blocked his email address.

He may have tried contacting her relatives as well. IIRC, the police were guarding her relatives after the homicides; I'll find an MSM link that discusses this.

From the below-linked article:

Unlike Tuesday morning, the crime scene tape and police cars that were parked outside are now gone. But ABC 6 did see police doing guard duty at two homes belonging to relatives several miles away. The relatives didn't want to speak on camera.

I have seen this reported several times. However, when reading the divorce papers (many pages) the engagement and wedding rings are clearly written in his handwriting when he is describing expenses on his pages. (I don't even want to write his name). Monique's handwriting is so different and she did not list them on her pages. So I think someone must have just thought it was her writing that but there are his and her pages of expenses, etc. on the papers.
Did MM claim the engagement ring as part of the marital assets or expenses? I thought an engagement ring was a gift from the groom and upon marriage was her property?

Spencer was found beside his bed. The dog was sleeping with the children.
Has it been said where Monique was found ?

Why would the ex not take the opportunity to carry this out against Monique when Spencer was at work? Why both?
It was a very personal and intimate crime. Killing a man and wife in their family home. In their bedroom as they were sleeping. Shooting them both in the chests so they could see who killed them.

Both of the Tepes were the target. It had to be both of them together in the bedroom. Not one of them, and not outside the home.

I have not heard but venturing a guess it was in her bed. Obvs that is JMO. Maybe someone else has heard where?

Whatever option he used, I am sure he had done dry runs before and knew exactly how to get in on the actual night. No way he was winging this on the night of the murders.
I think so too. He had a plan to gain entrance. He was not going to spend hours trying to get into the house.

Having the sign but no security system was a thing in my family. Several relatives did it…possibly because the actual systems were so expensive but a sign wasn’t?
Interesting! I never knew that

I say he definitely will be facing more criminal charges when he is returned to Ohio.

For starters the murder charge will likely be upgraded to aggravated murder.

He will also be charged with using a gun in commission of a felony, and either breaking and entering or burglary.

He could also be charged with stalking, and possibility of charging him with endangering children as you suggested cannot be ruled out.
He should be charged with felony child endangering or neglect on top of everything else.

There is a 1 and 4 yr old who would have been left unsupervised for an undetermined length of time. No food, water, care. Children can get sick quickly and need immediate assistance. The 4 year old can roam around the house and hurt herself. Left with a dog who might get agitated.

Someone mentioned using a blue light or black uv light to prehaps see numbers frequently pressed 🤔
Oof that’s terrifying if that works…

agreed, I hope prosecutors will add that on

Of course if the Tepes regularly changed their code, this method would not work?

I would think he wouldn't want to standoutside the front door too long for fear of being detected. I think he would want the quickest method to get in the house. I think he did not leave any evidence of a break in so it would most likely be something along the lines you are describing?

Circumstantial is all you need for probable cause, it’s about the “probability.” That you committed a crime or about to commit a crime…
Probable cause for an arrest warrant, he was likely seen on CCTV camera getting out of his car or getting in or both near the crime scene. they have the plate info and likely plate readers or some other surveillance that tracked him , then located that same car within his possession (and as the owner). Within a reasonable amount of time from crime incl travel etc./..to believe the probability that he did it, it’s only enough to get an arrest warrant not convict. The DA will do that,
You want enough to arrest, then you’ll have time to build the case gather evidence etc for trial.
You dont have to prove your case in 10 days to get a killer off the streets
Thats my Cole’s notes version, Im sure a cop or lawyer will explain it better.

In Illinois if you remarry you no longer receive spousal support. There would be no child support either since they didn't have any children together.
