I agree.
They also need to change laws about animal abuse/torture/killing. As of now, an animal is considered "property". B.C. has the toughest animal cruelty laws, and jail time has increased, from 6 months in jail, to now, 2 years max.

There would need to be evidence that he tortured, or was cruel to, animals in Canada before any charges could be filed in Canada. As it stands, it appears that the kitten files were produced in Central America and uploaded to the internet in the UK.

I pity his attorney

Its one of those cases where the attorneys biggest foe won't be prosecutor, it will be his own client. Luka will insist on giving evidence and mouthing off to the press and all sorts of things which damage his own case.

I still wouldn't be surprised if he represents himself.

Is that permitted in Canada? I may be wrong, and probably am, but I understood that is not permitted in a Canadian court room. Can anyone clear that up? If it is permitted, that wouldn't surprise me one bit.

One other thing I found really disturbing is a "review" he posted in January 2012 of A SERBIAN FILM. For anyone unfamiliar with this movie, it is a horror film about guys who make a snuff film. The really odd thing is he copy and pasted a review by one James Drew.

Luka's "review":

The original review:
http://www.expatica.com/nl/leisure/...review-Ah-a-perfect-Serbian-family_17489.html
Just wanted to update this. The author of the original film review has been made aware and was surprised to find this out. Not every day you find out a snuff killer was reading and copying your reviews. ;-)

I wonder if the crying and *sick* on the plane is gonna be part of his defense. He discovered the atrocity in his apt., knew he had been framed and was just sick and distraught over it? Compare that with his demeanor with the woman who supposedly picked him up hitchhiking. And did she really? Especially now we know that he flew out of Montreal (assuming that msm report is correct)?

wow, really Labatt? You don't want a photo of your public brand in the public domain published through the free press when that brand shares the pic with a consumer because the consumer is, in this case, extremely notorious. Too bad, so sad. Don't sell labeled beer to the general public for millions of dollars. Problem solved. Wth?

Labatt is just calling more attention to this photo and themselves. Maybe that was their intention? Pretty annoying any way you look at it. I am with you, Karmandy.

I'd never heard that representing yourself wasn't allowed in Canada, I just assumed their legal system would be similar to my own country's, (Ireland), because we both descended from the British legal system.

Maybe one of the Canadian posters can clear that up.

According to Montreal police, he flew out of Trufeau airport in Montreal. So, whoever she picked up, if she indeed picked anyone up, it wasn't Luka.

I read that as well. And it didn't surprise me. I'm betting he is going to go the 'insanity' route.

im betting he does not believe there is enough evidence to convict....

Confirmation of cannibalism? This could explain being sick to his stomach, no? Maybe he was crying 'cause his tummy hurt :moo:

is there evidence (that I have missed) that he actually hate human remains?

in the killvid he just slices pieces away, but it does not show him eating anything...

curious where this cannibalism came from....

Well, that depends. i will try to put this as mildly as possible. There is a point in the video after the full dismemberment where LRM is at least simulating it. However, it's not a very close close up, and LRM never really pulls his body back far enough to tell. In that scene, LRM didn't remove his sweatpants, but he could have pulled them down in front.

However, there is another act that he simulates, using the victim's hand...he may have left his DNA on the victim, but not necessarily in.

Even if it is in or on him, the little freak will just say it was from a consensual act. It's the most common defense out there.

I don't know what was on the portions of video that were cut out before he uploaded it on line, but nothing on the video that I saw includes any actual intercourse, cannibalism or murder. What it does include, well...pretty much everything else.

I was thinking, even if luka the freak says it was consensual, murder is illegal. There is a dead body and parts that he is engaging with, right? Doesn't it not matter that he says it was consentual? Btw, I don't believe Jun consented to being murdered....just thought I'd add that.

If I recall correctly, one is permitted to represent themselves, but the judge is allowed to overrule that request and appoint a defender. I think that's fairly common, especially in high-profile cases.

And thanks for the kind words about the article, folks. I want to give out more specific shout-outs, but the thread that tipped me off to a lot of stuff is pulled for review. So sorry about that.

No, not that I've encountered. It's just what LRM wants people to believe about him.

It is obvious that we are looking at someone who has at least one, if not several personality disorders, but it appears that at some point he suffered a psychotic break that led to him becoming first a cat killer and finally a murderer. I am sure all of us at some point has come across a narcissist or two, even sociopaths, but we can agree these people seem to blend in with society without becoming more than, at worst, petty criminals. Something happened to Luka, probably back around the time he changed his name, and I am curious to know what it might be. I know the anger is high right now, but don't come down on me when I say I don't want to see him killed in prison. I don't want to see him dead at all because I think he is worthy of intense study so that in the future we can stop people like him before the worst happens.

As for him defending himself, we all saw how well that worked for Ted Bundy. I say, go for it Luka!

Has he been charged with cannibalism?

Of course, but if they present DNA evidence, he'll just say it was left while Jun was still alive. Is there a body? yes? Are there parts being engaged with after Jun is dead? Yes. Can it be proven from a low quality tape that those parts are, in fact, real or that they belong to Jun? Not from what's on the tape. Does the tape show a murder? No.

I never suggested that Jun wanted to be murdered. I don't know when or how it came up, I never bought into that idea. I'm saying that if they find his DNA in or on the victim, he will try to explain it away by saying it was deposited in a consensual sex act prior to Jun's death, or that a lover of his somehow kept his semen and left it on the victim (the old I was framed). Luckily, the later can be debunked by forensic science, so he'll likely go with the former.
