<snip>

Surveillance video from the restaurant shows Giordano in his rental car parked in the back of the bar and restaurant twice, which he told police was so that he could park in the shade, according to the police source. No one else is visible through the car's tinted windows.

Lambchop

was it you that stated there was no video camera at the back of the restaurant?

I recall reading that here but don't remember if it was an opinion or if it was a fact.

It seems to me that it was a reporter who stated that. i don't recall who was discussing it here or what was decided.

I do remember the reports about the car parked at the back of the restaurant

No, it wasn't me. Somewhere on here in the past two weeks a video or picture was posted of GG and RG walking past the camera in the back of the restaurant and the gate metal gate was closed. This was when the were there on Monday when the restaurant was closed. jmo

I have to wonder if the statement of police reporting that GG returned to the hotel to "take a nap" is connected to the report by the fisherman that GG was too drunk and the police would have to wait to talk to him later.

Or, maybe the police said that GG needed to take a nap because he was too drunk, but then again, not enough time, they were 30 minutes or so drive from the hotel room if he was indeed at the scene at the times specified.

:waitasec: So if he didn't go back to his room for a nap, maybe he took a nap in his car, LOL.

I think its apparent from the last known photos that gary and robyn left through the front of the restaurant and you can see a white vehicle with tinted windows in the pic.
If they parked at the back f the restaurant, which according to reports , they did, it was after they had lunch.
They are shown clearly leaving at the front and walking to their right.

There are paths in back where you can easily drive your car close to the water.
I have walked it, i can't see her walking back there in wedge sandals and i can't see gary walking all the way back there to refill a drink.

In my opinion, they parked and left from the front of the bar in full view of other patrons
Perhaps , then parked at the back

The two Americans had been in Aruba a couple of days when they decided to go snorkeling on Aug. 2 near an area known as Baby Beach, Lopez said. He said the pair eventually realized they were being pulled out to sea by the current and Giordano tapped on Gardner's leg to signal that they should swim back.

When he got to shore, he noticed she wasn't with him and ran to get help after looking for her unsuccessfully in the water, the lawyer said.

“The current outside is very harsh it will take you away in minutes if you don't watch out and I think that is what happened,” Lopez said.

Does anyone have a link stating exactly where they went in the water according to Giordano?

 • #907
OK, I found this link to Nanki

The prosecutor's office released a statement later Tuesday that provided more detail. GVG told authorities that he had been snorkeling with Gardner behind Nanki Country Club when he signaled to her to swim back, the statement read. When the man reached the beach, the woman was nowhere to be found, he allegedly told them.

DENZ: OK, I have to explain something. They were seen, it has been confirmed -- there are people that have testified that they have seen these two people together at the Baby Beach. But Baby Beach is not the exact area. It`s close by. It`s about six to seven minutes walk from the area where they actually went to snorkel, which is behind 90 (ph) Concrete (ph) Club.

And it`s a bit of an abandoned place. There are a company that rents out gear for snorkeling and also diving. We have not received the information from the police if they have rented snorkeling gear because snorkeling gear is actually pretty easy to just buy at a store and just use. So we do not have that information.

But the Baby Beach, where a lot of people traffic with their children and go to the beach, is a very populated area, and there they have confirmed to see them together. But we did not receive information -- the police did not want to release information if they have seen them actually snorkeling at the 90 Concrete Beach Club area, where the mister (ph) who has been detained is saying that they were snorkeling.

US reporting of alleged snorkeling site incorrect

Wednesday, 10 August 2011 22:04

Many US media have been reporting that the alleged area where the suspect in the dissaperance of the American woman Robyn Gardner says is Baby Beach. This information is incorrect. The suspect says that they went snorkeling behind the Nanki Country Club area. This is close to the Baby Beach area but is located between Baby Beach and Rodgers Beach. http://arubaherald.com/local/774-us-reporting-of-alleged-snorkeling-site-incorrect.html

03/27/2003 Amy (Avg: 2.91 Review) - We went the wrong way (toward the refinery) and ended up in a totally different, deserted part of the beach. There were lots of deserted looking shacks, no facilities, and not a soul on the beach. We brought snorkel gear we rented for $10/day at the hotels and drove down. The reef there was in pretty bad shape, but there were still lots of interesting, beautiful fish to see in the coral that was still alive. It was great for a beginner because you never go more that 50 meters from the shoreline so there is no fear of getting lost or confused. The water was perfectly clear and it the abundant fish made it very worth the trip. Highly recommend to rank beginners! Also, the coastline is really interesting, with another older coastline apparent about 400-500 meters back from the current one! Dramatic cliffs and a weird desolate place. We found lots of evidence of heavy beer drinking everywhere, too. Watch for glass on the beach!!

And about Baby Beach beyond the protective reef:

03/25/2002 Mark (Avg: 3.32 Review) - Not for beginner snorkelers. Once past the inlet into the ocean, the reef is tricky. Elk horn coral reaches to the surface making it confusing to find your way back to the inlet. Excellent flora and fauna. Large fish to see.

HUH!!! Ya know I had to read this 4 times before I could figure out what he was saying. LOL!

The old brain is just not working. Finally I think (if I understand correctly) we know that GG and RG went in the water 5 to 7 minutes from Baby Beach, at a place called Rogers Beach. They were seen on Baby Beach but not going into the water at Rogers beach, which is behind the 90 Concrete Beach Club, and I might add, what kind of Name is that?

Also has LE ever confirmed where their scuba gear came from. Not clear on that? TIA

Rogers beach , nanki beach, heck if I know anymore
Couple of things, I don't quite understand the five to seven minutes remark
I suppose if you were walking from Baby to Rogers it would take that long, maybe even longer.

The nanki Beach Club , which if I understand correctly is where Rum and Reef is presently, was part of the Esso Colony in better days
On the opposite side to Jads is a vacant building made of concrete. This must be what he is refering to as the 90 Concrete Beach Club

It all appears farther away from each other in this pic, when in fact its not that far
As you can see, you can walk from baby beach right around to the back of Rum and Reef

And though I would not choose to snorkel there personally, there is something very peaceful and unusually pretty about the area
All you can hear when standing there is wind and sea
Its different, different kind of landscape, different rocks and flora JMO

Dushi I think that is where the car was parked at some point.
Initially it was parked in front of the building(s) but later Giordano claimed he had re parked it in order for it to be in the shade.

If you look at the pics from that afternoon the only shade would be at the seaside side of the buildings, I think that is where the car is also shown in the re enactment.

LE claims he was parked in the back and it shows the car in the reenactment video. Unless there is a link to show or statement from GG that he parked in the front I'm inclined to believe LE. We also have never heard GG dispute that he had parked anywhere but in the back. When asked by LE his explanation was that he parked there because of the shade. And if they were planning on going out to the peninsula afterwards his parking there would make sense. And if you were putting something in someone's drink would you want to be parked right in the front of the building where all those people in the restaurant could witness what you were doing. jmo

Lambchop in one of his interviews he said where the car was parked (initially), from what I recall that was the front.

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/robyn-gardners-final-moments-reenacted-aruba-14562389

This is a video from the reenactment but it looks to me as if the RAV4 is parked behind the restaurant. I know the video the day before was taken from the back. It's hard to tell because the buildings are so long. It is hard to believe he would park in the back because it looks like it would be a long walk.

I just find it hard to believe they would drive all that way two days in a row to eat at a place that is quite unremarkable and no view. Then there is this beautiful area to go into the water with the snorkel channel on the other side and he picks the rocky peninsula to go into the water. It just makes no sense. jmo

This is the back, that does not look the same as what is shown in the re enactment, back of the buildings (notice the location of the sea) :

rumreefachterkanthelemaal.jpg

The location of the sea imo clearly shows that in the re enactment they also parked the car to the side of the building (notice the location of the sea), still of re enactment:

side.jpg

The video you posted also says: "parking the white RAV4 next to the RumReef restaurant" (01:48 into the video)
The sea is to the right of the RumReef (when walking out of the RumReef), that is where the car was parked, at the side.

Check the bushes and trees on this pic to the side of the buildings:

jadsrrbabybeach.jpg

The small beach where they went right behind "the former Country Club":

rumreefachterkanthelemaal.jpg

The pictures show that they could walk from where the car was parked, from the side of the buildings right to the small beach.
Here is a close up of that rocky and partly green area:

backrumreef.jpg

And here you see the actors re enacting the events, putting on snorkels and going into the sea at that spot:

Lambchop in one of his interviews he said where the car was parked (initially), from what I recall that was the front.

I don't know. Just sounds like another inconsistency. jmo

The spot they went into the water is not Baby Beach, it's the open ocean and you can see it quite clearly on all the video interviews.

The second picture where they are cleaning up appears to be the side of the cement building because you can see the Dive Shop and then the flags from the restaurant from there.

Not sure why it is important where he parked other than if he initally told LE the car was parked in front and LE said they had videos of the two days they visited that show he parked out back and that is when he said he parked there because of the shade. So if he did first say that he parked out front then LE obviously caught him in a lie.

I'm going down in a few months so I will take some pictures of that area if it's still not clear. But I have been to Baby Beach within the past couple of years, was not at the restaurant but I do plan on taking a trip down there and will definitely take pictures. jmo

Here is a link to a photo that gives a good representation of the Baby Beach and Nanki area:

The area GG alleges they snorkeled, is that the end of the peninsula, the "wide open ocean"?

I can't believe anyone would snorkel there, versus in a protected cove :waitasec:

I wonder if when they are referring to the back of the building, if they really mean the side of the building. This kind of thing gets confused pretty easily, depending on the layout, the walkways and doorways, the signage, as well as the landscape around the building.

The front of the building should be more obvious, although sometimes one side or another can also look like much like the front.

:waitasec: Does this make any sense at all? lol.
