I wonder if when they are referring to the back of the building, if they really mean the side of the building. This kind of thing gets confused pretty easily, depending on the layout, the walkways and doorways, the signage, as well as the landscape around the building.

The front of the building should be more obvious, although sometimes one side or another can also look like much like the front.

:waitasec: Does this make any sense at all? lol.

Had GG parked on the side of the building I'm not sure the camera would have caught him. The restaurant is in the middle of the buildings so for a camera to catch them on the video he would have to be out back or in the front. The video from Monday looks like a storage area or kitchen, not from the front. LE described it as the camera in the back of the building.

I'm still trying to figure out why it's so important other than initially he may have lied and said they had parked in the front. jmo

Its just a question thats being asked
It may not have any importance at all, but I think its still worth asking

Why has Aruba become the bermuda triangle of pretty blonde white girls?

Here is a link to a photo that gives a good representation of the Baby Beach and Nanki area:

The area GG alleges they snorkeled, is that the end of the peninsula, the "wide open ocean"?
I can't believe anyone would snorkel there, versus in a protected cove :waitasec:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t189/zed0101/Colson_Snorkel__.jpg

I have asked that question several times
There seems to differing opinions about where exactly he said they went in the water.
And because there is no actual Nanki Beach designation, it covers many areas.
The end of the peninsula is rough water, I walked it.
That is not where the reenactment took place

When I look at the reenactment, it appears to me, they are parked on the side of the building
I assume they did everything according to the story told by Giordano. JMO

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/robyn-gardners-final-moments-reenacted-aruba-14562389

This is a video from the reenactment but it looks to me as if the RAV4 is parked behind the restaurant. I know the video the day before was taken from the back. It's hard to tell because the buildings are so long. It is hard to believe he would park in the back because it looks like it would be a long walk.

I just find it hard to believe they would drive all that way two days in a row to eat at a place that is quite unremarkable and no view. Then there is this beautiful area to go into the water with the snorkel channel on the other side and he picks the rocky peninsula to go into the water. It just makes no sense. jmo

If you look at the writing on the wall, "TENE" thats all you can see.
It is not visible from the back of the building. JMO
So, imo, this is the side

Its just a question thats being asked
It may not have any importance at all, but I think its still worth asking

I was just saying it helps to know the reason why people asked the question because it certainly can lead to getting to the right answers. Any investigator will ask "and why are you asking the question?" When trying to find all the inconsistencies in his statements and want facts it helps to know why someone would be asking any particular question? I think it's part of sleuthing, sharing information. I know some of us have spent a lot of time researching information and posting maps, etc. and we still don't know why there are still questions about where GG parked and why it is so important.

If there is no reason, that's fine, just let us know so we can move on to something important. I planned on going down to Baby Beach and take some pictures but if there is no real reason to, I won't bother.

There are still questions because it is obvious to me there is confusion
You seem to think he was parked out back but the in reenactment , they parked on the side which is quite clear because of the letters on the wall.

It makes more sense, him refilling drinks etc if parked at the front or side than in the back.
If parked in front, patrons would have a clear view.
If parked in back or side, not such a clear view

If someone has a question and you can clarify, why not do it? Does it really matter why they ask? It seems to me, they ask because it is unclear to them.

I am sorry you feel it is umimportant and if that is how you feel, may i suggest you just ignore the question

I never said it was unimportant and that is certainly not how I feel. What I want to know is what IS the importance??? I just asked a simple question as to why it appears to be important where he parked. If someone is asking you to provide information why wouldn't they want to provide you with the reason they are asking if what we are doing is sleuthing. A forum is about sharing information which we all seem to do to the best of our ability.

Since the thread is trying to stay consistent with what happened to Robin it's nice to know why a question is asked. It is an innocent question. Why are we suppose to be concerned about where he parked?? If there is no reason to be concerned then how hard is it to state that. I don't mind doing the research, I'd just like to know why I'm doing it so it's not just a one-sided conversation. I think that is a reasonable request and I think we would all like to know. jmo

Correct, you did not say it was unimportant, you said we could move on to something important.
I expect that the reason for asking the question is because it is unclear to a poster. There may not be information to share, maybe just trying to clarify something in their mind.

There has been great debate over Gary going to the car for drinks , also debate over whether he put the pill in her drink
Perhaps thats why the question has been asked

If it was his intention to "spike " her drink, its unlikely we would see the car parked in front near customers.

We do see them leaving the restaurant and walking towards the right.

Its unlikely, at lunch, if he were going to refill drinks , he would park in back. Its quite a hike

At some point during that day, Gary parked that car on the side of the building OR said he did as that is where the reenactment placed the car.

You are right about a forum being about sharing opinions and information
So I have given my opinions and information on the question that was asked by a poster

I agree the car appears to have been parked alongside the end of the building. It's just nice to know when someone asks you a question in a direct quote from what you have posted why they want to know after you've done extensive research on the matter and the same question keeps coming up. It's easier to answer a question and get the correct answers if you know what the poster is looking for. No one has to share the reason, of course, but it is very helpful, less confusing for others who are reading here. And I always feel it's considerate of others to let them know why I have asked the question. But that is just me.

I find it interesting that he parked so far away, and as you say it's a pretty good walk (at least 3 minutes worth R/T according to the video) and he left at 3:57pm to allegedly fill the cup and returned by 4pm only to leave the restaurant at approximately 4:13pm. I'm sure someone can think of a reason why that happened but when presented with all the other inconsistencies it just seems strange. jmo

The poster was looking for the answer to this question...
Where did Gary and Robyn park the car during lunch?

And it seems IMO, based on the letters on the wall which are not in back of the restaurant, that they did one of three things

Parked out back and moved it to the side
Parked in front and moved the car to the side and then to the back
Parked on the side of the building and moved it to the back

The reenactment shows the car at the side and that must have been where it was when Gary says they went in the water
I have no idea when it was parked out back

Your post from yesterday stated your opinion was that the car was parked in back after your extensive research
Its the post I quoted

The side of the building is not far away

  • #932
I don't know. Just sounds like another inconsistency. jmo

I will try to look up the video where he said it.

The spot they went into the water is not Baby Beach, it's the open ocean and you can see it quite clearly on all the video interviews.

I agree, it is the open area behind the buildings.

The second picture where they are cleaning up appears to be the side of the cement building because you can see the Dive Shop and then the flags from the restaurant from there.

The picture in which they are cleaning up is the back of the building, it is the line of buildings viewed from the back:

The front:

Not sure why it is important where he parked other than if he initally told LE the car was parked in front and LE said they had videos of the two days they visited that show he parked out back and that is when he said he parked there because of the shade. So if he did first say that he parked out front then LE obviously caught him in a lie.

It is important, even more because Giordano claimed he put his car there in order for it to be in the shade, if the car was parked in the back it would not be in the shade, if it was parked in the front it would not be in the shade either (inconsistency), if it was parked at the side it would be in the shade and it would make sense him doing so. IMO

Front, back, side... :waitasec:

Maybe GG THOUGHT he was parking in front, but actually parked it on the side... ?? Very confusing!! LOL!

Lampchop - yes, please DO take pictures when you go down!! :seeya:

EH! Do we really want to go down this road again ? There IS no reason to be concerned. Seems to me you ask a question, the answer is given--Why the question is asked is something the poster can answer or NOT. No one is required to answer anything, end of story. Obviously the answers given are not exactly clear, thus the continued pursuit for clarification, right?

C'mon we already went thru this line of questioning--just let it go, K?

Well, at that time of night there would be shade on that side of the building so that does make sense. Maybe he did not want his ice to melt. lol

Dushi is right it appears they were parked on the side of the building and I'm not sure why LE was saying the back unless they meant the back of the restaurant is where the camera is located because you can see GG and RG walking and you can see their car driving by on the video on that Monday. So whether the camera is located way in the back of all the buildings or on the side we don't know yet. I also don't know whether it is possible to drive up past the back of the buildings to get to the side and that may be how LE was able to capture it. But thanks to Dushi some of the confusion has been cleared up. jmo

I didn't ask the question, I was trying to understand and help answer the question.

Sorry, misunderstanding......Micheline asked the "parking" question back on page 35 or so. We then spent several pages on the "need to know" why she needed to know about the parking, etc. That is what I meant by "going down that road", yet again. Think the question can be answered without "understanding" why she asked it??? ...and this is how it started, constant clarification, for misunderstood comments. Just sayin, no need to comment if you don't get an answer.:sigh:

Dushi, were you able to go into the restaurant?

  • #939
Colson_Snorkel__.jpg

It all appears farther away from each other in this pic, when in fact its not that far
As you can see, you can walk from baby beach right around to the back of Rum and Reef

And though I would not choose to snorkel there personally, there is something very peaceful and unusually pretty about the area
All you can hear when standing there is wind and sea
Its different, different kind of landscape, different rocks and flora JMO

I just realized that the link I posted is for the same map Dushi posted earlier. Sorry Dushi. Oh well,

  • #940
Dushi, were you able to go into the restaurant?

No, I didn't go in as my friend who took me there has one day off a week and I had used up so much of his day.
I just had a good look all around and I am glad I did.
I feel you should too, if you can
It makes the whole picture more clear to me, putting yourself behind the restaurant

I have pics, I just haven't taken them from my camera yet
Don't know what they are like
