Sorry, misunderstanding......Micheline asked the "parking" question back on page 35 or so. We then spent several pages on the "need to know" why she needed to know about the parking, etc. That is what I meant by "going down that road", yet again. Think the question can be answered without "understanding" why she asked it??? ...and this is how it started, constant clarification, for misunderstood comments. Just sayin, no need to comment if you don't get an answer.:sigh:

I think we have been very productive in finding some answers. Dushi was able to clarify some of the questions and clear up the confusion we've had which has been very helpful. I don't think there have been any unreasonable serious questions that have been asked pertaining to this case. It's all about finding out what happened to Robyn. If it comes out that GG was telling the truth then we have our answer. And if the question pertains to this case specifically there is no bad question. They all have been pretty productive. Some have taken a little longer to figure out but the main objective is that we get there. Get to the truth.

If someone still isn't getting the answer they want it just helps to know what they are looking for, that was all I was saying. True, they may just have a question and no reasoning behind it but we have gotten some good suggestions as to what "could" have happened which I think is always productive. jmo

I just realized that the link I posted is for the same map Dushi posted earlier. Sorry Dushi. Oh well,

No problem
It is a good pic of the whole area

No, I didn't go in as my friend who took me there has one day off a week and I had used up so much of his day.
I just had a good look all around and I am glad I did.
I feel you should too, if you can
It makes the whole picture more clear to me, putting yourself behind the restaurant

I have pics, I just haven't taken them from my camera yet
Don't know what they are like

Oh, I will go. And I'll try to get as much information as I can. I'll have a car for three weeks so I won't have a problem getting there.

It is better when you know what you looking for, lol. Thanks

It gave me a chance to see where one would normally park, how easy it is to drive behind the restauarant, which we did.
To walk from baby beach to the Rum Reef or if you wish, right out on to the peninsula

There are very rough areas and there are areas that are very accessible

With the wind and sea, you can hear nothing else

According to this video, after they park, they then leave and "drive around back, to the jetty". Can anyone clarify for me where this "jetty" is? TIA

  • #946
MARTIN SAVIDGE, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, here is how that can go down. First of all, the way that ABC describes all the cameras is not possible because we walked around the place. There are six cameras at the front of the facility. There are none at the back of this facility. So you can`t see what`s going on behind the restaurant.

I think it is safe to say the jetty is the peninsula. I sticks out like an arm and encloses and protects the cove from the open sea.

Jetty: "they are formed sometimes of high open timber-work, sometimes of low solid projections, and occasionally only differ from breakwaters in their object...."

I didn't see a jetty at all
So, I agree with Lambchop

If there is a jetty, its up towards Rogers

The jetty is the arm that sticks out into the sea and the encloses Baby Beach cove. Jetties protect a water area from the open sea. The jetty is what keeps Baby Beach waters so calm and so no strong currents inside the cove. I wonder if that peninsula was orginally naturally formed or if it was constructed that way to protect the cove and the beach. jmo

US reporting of alleged snorkeling site incorrect

Wednesday, 10 August 2011 22:04

Many US media have been reporting that the alleged area where the suspect in the dissaperance of the American woman Robyn Gardner says is Baby Beach. This information is incorrect. The suspect says that they went snorkeling behind the Nanki Country Club area. This is close to the Baby Beach area but is located between Baby Beach and Rodgers Beach. http://arubaherald.com/local/774-us-reporting-of-alleged-snorkeling-site-incorrect.html

BBM: It just helps me to be able to be able to visualize everything: Nanki Beach in relation to Baby Beach.

This is the back, that does not look the same as what is shown in the re enactment, back of the buildings (notice the location of the sea) :

rumreefachterkanthelemaal.jpg

The location of the sea imo clearly shows that in the re enactment they also parked the car to the side of the building (notice the location of the sea), still of re enactment:

side.jpg

The video you posted also says: "parking the white RAV4 next to the RumReef restaurant" (01:48 into the video)
The sea is to the right of the RumReef (when walking out of the RumReef), that is where the car was parked, at the side.

Check the bushes and trees on this pic to the side of the buildings:

The small beach where they went right behind "the former Country Club":

The pictures show that they could walk from where the car was parked, from the side of the buildings right to the small beach.
Here is a close up of that rocky and partly green area:

And here you see the actors re enacting the events, putting on snorkels and going into the sea at that spot:

Ok, now I see, you're right. According to the re-enactment video and your second photo, they show the police cars parked in front of those tall, round-topped tall bushes, which is the very end of the front of the restaurant. And, in the video, they show the car parked around the corner from where the police cars are parked. So this is actually on the end of the building, not the back. TY, this really helps. :)

And Nanki Beach is on the opposite side of the peninsula / jetty from Baby Beach, according to the map. And in the re-enactment video, the reporter, whathisname, appears to be on that peninsula / jetty at the edge of the rocky beach near the open water. Which is apparently Nanki Beach. :sigh:

Had GG parked on the side of the building I'm not sure the camera would have caught him. The restaurant is in the middle of the buildings so for a camera to catch them on the video he would have to be out back or in the front. The video from Monday looks like a storage area or kitchen, not from the front. LE described it as the camera in the back of the building.

I'm still trying to figure out why it's so important other than initially he may have lied and said they had parked in the front. jmo

Lambchop it was you asking the question (page 36). see here:

I thought it was reported that GG had parked in the back of the restaurant, not that it matters?

Even though you said "not that it matters" you continued about the parkingspot, giving me the impression that it did matter to you, so I made an effort with many pics to try to explain to you where the car was parked, and now you want to know why the question was asked?
I am not understanding this.

Personally I do see the relevance about knowing where the car was parked (see my explanation; Giordano said he wanted his car parked in the shade, and if the car was parked at the back where there was no shade that would be inconsistent with his claim). So I did feel your questioning this was relevant enough to answer.

I agree, you are absolutely right. If he did park it there for the shade then that would make sense because at this location on the side of the building there would be shade because it's on the eastern side with the sun setting in the western portion of the island.

Micheline, I really appreciate the very helpful information and visuals you provided to me and all who post here. I, for one, need the visuals.

On the other hand, LambChop simply had questions about the information being requested and I see no problem with that. She has also provided some very valuable information about Aruba, in general and pertaining to specifics of the area.

Dushi has provided her own valuable insight and information pertaining to Aruba as well.

We're just here sharing information and sleuthing. However we do it, that's just what we do.

IJMO, but this Robyn Gardner forum has some of the most awesome posters of any I have been on. Can't explain why, just is. So can't we just let it go at that?
