Astara was camping with friends in the Pauwela Lighthouse area of Pauwela, Hawaii on January 10, 2004. She was last seen around 10:45 pm, talking on her cell phone while standing on a cliff overlooking the ocean. Her friends looked away for a few minutes, and when they looked back, Astara was gone.
