Ardent wants to divest themselves of Dreamworld. This is simple damage control. Call me cynical...
You might just be right Bohemian, about the divesting.
Another thing that bothers me in this article is the use of the word our.
We are being told he's now part of the Dreamworld team, we should trust him because the corporate Ardent Leisure can't be the bad guys can they when he's chosen to stand alongside them and accept their offer in such a important position after this horrific accident. And at the same time he is standing with the community.
Call me cynical too ...

"Then and only then can we think about reopening our park.
"Dreamworld has suffered an absolute tragedy. It has devastated families and our surrounding community. We need to rebuild.
The appointment comes just days after Ardent Leisure faced criticisms over its public response to the nation's worst park tragedy in decades.
