Police said that they didn't have a direction and had to cover a 360-degree angle.

The road is only 300 metres from the house, which means Gus could have reached it on foot in just a few minutes. There were no reported signs of struggle or distress, so it’s possible he walked off voluntarily. Maybe he was drawn by an animal, a wandering sheep, a sudden noise, or someone or something familiar.

Then evening fell, and the house was lit up and the adults were out searching and calling his name for hours. If he was conscious, mobile, and still nearby, he should’ve seen the lights or heard the voices and come back or responded.

Yet Gus didn’t respond or return, because he couldn’t.

Wasn't that an internal road though? Wasn't it mentioned somewhere that there are 5 or so gates between the home and the public road, suggesting a large stretch of internal road first? (I also thought he could have strayed from the property when I first heard it was only 300 metres away)

Yes you're right HB. I’ve just edited to reflect that. No strangers, strange vehicles, crocodiles or dingos.

Locals are more concerned about, “the mine shafts and wells dug more than a century ago by fortune seekers and graziers”. If poor Gus slipped into one of those, it wouldn’t be obvious.

Being in a very remote area. If he wasn't detected by infrared (IR) or thermal cameras, it's a worry
