Gus's 'furious' dad is seen for the first time after son disappeared

The little boy vanished almost two weeks ago after playing in the yard of remote Oak Park homestead in the harsh South Australian outback, 300km north of Adelaide .

Yeah that is Josh Lamont's house. He has some grass, unlike Jess' property which is dry as chips.

That picture above with those two water tanks, or for feed, grain or whatever they're used for, they do not have ladders do they?
Makes me think of Elisa Lam..
I expect they've checked them, and other enclosed or strange places.

I can't help thinking of the life Gus lived out there - no other kids to play with so he would be used to playing by himself & wandering around creating games & amusing himself. We will probably never know if he has been hard to find before or how far he may have wandered (I know it's been reported that family state he "hadn't wandered far", but far can mean different things to families living so remote. And that is not to point fingers at family). I also wonder if he did wander & survive a night, did the noise & vibrant colours of the searchers frighten him? Like the little 4 year old that went missing in NSW many years ago who survived for 5 days but was constantly hiding from the search parties as they frightened him.

We have only seen children’s bikes at Josh’s house, very evidently at the front door and some at the back door. Haven’t seen toys at the Oak Park property. IMO

Ruffy posted a screenshot earlier which shows green lawns at the front and back of the Oak Park house.

I expect that those lawns will remain green until Nov/Dec when the temps dry them out - unless they use precious water on the lawns.

I'd imagine and hope they have a very thorough system with each place/object/building searched being signed off on
but I keep thinking of the dirt piles, which don't look disturbed with a search ...

So if it's concluded that he didn't wander off, doesn't that narrow it down to 'someone took him off the property'?

To the comments saying 'the grandma would have heard a vehicle! or 'but there are 6 gates!' - neither of these are difficult obstacles for an abductor to overcome, not to mention the grandma may simply have not heard or remembered hearing a vehicle.

So it really begs the question: who knew of Gus's existence on the property? Workers on the site? Grocery delivery/maintenance/post delivery people who had visited for various reasons? Family or friends?
It has to be a very small list of candidates.

Yes I still question the red sand pile....but one would think they checked that immediately. Maybe it's compacted and solid.

Has anyone seen any mention of Gus's paternal grandparents? I don't think they would be all that old, so good chance they're still living. I wonder if they were a part of Gus's life before his disappearance. Maybe they're not around, but if they are, I'm really surprised that I haven't seen a word about them, but I may have missed it.

Just to confuse things, I’ve just noticed that the Daily Mail have circled a pile of red dirt that hasn’t been pointed out before. That makes 3 different piles of red dirt on the property!

Has anyone been able to locate these 6 gates that have to be gone through to get to the homestead ?

From what I’ve deduced from the maps, it’s maybe 500 metres from the homestead to Oak Park Road ( a 4 year old would walk that in about 15 mins.)

I imagine there’s either a gate or grid at the property entrance; and I think I saw what might be a grid close to the house.

I think Oak Park Road is a public road as there are other properties along the way.

But maybe the public road is not fenced on either side, meaning it effectively passes through private land, so there could be gates crossing the road in order to contain the stock .
That would mean anyone using the road would be opening & shutting gates, making it no big deal for anyone familiar with that situation or the area.

Maybe Gus saw a vehicle he thought was the mail man and went down to meet him ( in those remote areas the Postie often brings groceries etc too )
Maybe he saw a vehicle that he thought was Dad.

I just wish they’d find something !

It's probably not connected to the case at all, but the 6 gates vs a matter of a few hundred metres to the road are annoying me. Are there 6 gates to a different road, not Oak Park Rd? The home does appear to be close to Oak Park Rd, and even if you trace the roadways, it still doesn't appear to be far enough to have 6 gates. Are we talking gates on public/semi private roads instead? It's just frustrating to me that it hasn't been clarified.

Sure, but, as I said, this family comes across, at least to me, as reclusive. I would have thought that they would have cameras near their home to ensure that strangers and trespassers are not approaching the home. And potentially also at the aforementioned six gates.

There's quiet & private, and then there's reclusive. I tend to think they're the former, and became the latter after they were front page news, especially given the complicated family structure and the way it was scrutinized.

They look to me to be "white" sheep. Sheep are never truly white, at best they're a very dirty white/cream, bordering on grey. Then of course you have other breeds like your dorpers that come with a black head.

I personally have never been convinced he wandered far if at all. It would have been pitch black soon after he went and likely scared and the house would of been like a lighthouse.
The got stuck in a tight spot around homestead is very plausible but you'd like to think everything has been searched and after these hot days, no sign.
What is the next most logical explanation?
An accident and cover up by someone driving along the road? How would someone perhaps react if they had just accidentally ran over a little boy and were panicking?
He had an accident while playing and someone panicked and thought it's best to now "hide him".

Police wouldn't have spent all this money on this new search if they didn't think he was still out there.

These are the questions in my head. I hold out a wish he was taken, so he may be alive.

It was mentioned way back in thread that Josie had a walking stick...but it's actually a dog lol.

I also noticed in a video clip the other day with this same picture there were actually 3 dog's.

With the extensive searching now being done and absolutely zilch found, then I'm of the opinion that something more nefarious has definitely happened IMO

The ground search undertaken this week by SA Police, ADF members and SES volunteers at Oak Park Station extended to a 5.5km radius from the homestead. This equates to 95 sqkm searched on foot.

The original search area extended well beyond this with the use of the mounted operations unit and Polair. This area has been estimated at 470 sqkm.

The fact Gus is a small child, the terrain is extremely rugged, harsh and subject to changing weather conditions has made the searching difficult and more challenging for those involved.
Each of these factors may have contributed to the lack of evidence discovered.
The location also presents less opportunities for police searching for a missing person, compared with an urban environment.

The family of Gus Lamont have continued to cooperate fully with police and are being supported by a victim contact officer.

Further searches of the property will be considered in future as Task Force Horizon investigations continue."

Gus was last seen at 5pm playing outside his family’s homestead Oak Park on Saturday, September 27th.

Gus’ grandmother Shannon and Gus' one-year-old brother Ronnie were inside the home.

Shannon discovered Gus missing when she went to call him in at 5.30pm.

Gus’ mum Jessica, and his other grandparent Josie, were approx 10km away dealing with the sheep.

Gus' father Joshua was not on the property at the time.

Two reviews of the initial search have been done - one by an experienced STAR Group field search controller, the other by an experienced Chief Superintendent (the first experienced with missing persons in isolated areas, the other experienced in multi-faceted investigations).
Neither review found any issues with the initial search.

Police are looking to rule out other possibilities (for Gus' disappearance) as part of their due diligence.

Police helicopter flight timing – initial search for Gus Lamont

I’ve gone back through the ADS-B flight data for POL53 (SA Police helicopter, VH-8D3) from the night of Saturday, 27 September 2025.

Converting the UTC timestamps to Adelaide time (ACST, UTC +9:30):

• Departed Adelaide: around 11:30 PM, Saturday 27 Sept
• Arrived near the Oak Park / Yunta area: approximately 12:15 AM, Sunday 28 Sept

This was the initial aerial search deployment for Gus. When you map that out, it really shows how much critical time had already passed before the first formal police response could even begin.

On a quick note to the moderators – I actually posted this same analysis previously, but it seems to have been removed. I was in the middle of compiling my full thoughts and timeline to share with the community and went looking for that post to avoid re-doing the data work. Having posts quietly deleted without a message or explanation really undermines that kind of effort.

I completely get the rule about posting links, but in this case, the source is literally visible within the screenshots, and the data is publicly accessible. When moderation gets too heavy-handed, it discourages people who are genuinely trying to contribute meaningful, well-sourced information to the discussion.

A simple PM asking to add a link would’ve achieved the same thing, and kept the community’s best research intact.
