IM sure there were comments somewhere from the Dickie's that stipulated, that after so many days, they knew she was gone....That would indicate hurt, sadness.....but it means, they werent shocked.

They would have been shocked to hear she had gone missing....They would have been shocked that she hadn't returned in the first few days.....But after 11 days, they knew she was dead. (moreso presumed she was dead)

If it was my daughter... yes, I'd be thinking that the worst had happened, that she was dead. BUT when the police finally found a body, it would be still such a shock, because it's suddenly very real. JMO

As much as you may fear the worst I think there is still a part of you that hangs onto hope that is not the case. But the minute its confirmed yes it is still a huge shock I would think.

This would indicate, that they were under no illusions that it was her body they were looking for. They were ready for it. (so sad :( )

"But after that length of time we were ready to find her body."

As a teacher in the Brisbane area who runs cross country carnivals I can assure you that a primary school cross country carnival WILL NOT be in bushland requiring clearing of undergrowth. Primary school x-country carnivals are normally run up to 3km and normally laps around the school - hence parent audience - or laps around a PARKLAND with some hills.

Senior Secondary school carnivals (up age 17-18 yrs) are not even held in bushland requiring clearing of undergrowth. There is always a path through the 'bush' already.

And that is a fact...........you can trust me on that one....

as a parent who was at one 2 days ago, I can assure that the Monday was spent by dads clearing the track. That's a fact too. It is a block of land behind the school which is bushland.

I can only find the link to the picture - it will take too long to find it in the past threads, and I can't remember who posted it. Gerard is carrying a washing basket - and it looks like pinkish whelts up his right arm; it just reminded me of fingers - as though he had been gripped really tightly.

We were looking at scratches and bumps..the picture that the previous poster uploaded was much clearer. Not that many of our original posters are left - does anyone remember who put it up?

I think that after a few days of her being missing, they realised then.....this is very real.

It's like the death of a sick child as opposed to the death of a child in sudden tragedy. When there appears to have warning of whats to come.... With sickness it isnt a shock. ABSOLUTE sadness and grief and heartbreaking emotion....moreso confirmation.....Not shock. With sudden tragedy, it is a SHOCK. We all knew they were looking for a body, the Dickie's too.

some of you may not have seen my post on this way back ...

the main carpark which is out the back of Kenmore Village can be accessed any time night or day - I know this because I have a private PO Box there.

Interestingly and pertinent to sleuthers - a shop owner in that area (which can be accessed any time) was interviewed very early on when Allison was still missing, regarding their CCTV as the police wanted to check for Allison's car that may have been parked there in the early hours of Fri morning.

This makes sense as a car parked out near the post office area would not be visible from the road and very few people are there in the early hours.

is kenmore village where allison would have parked for her (alleged) hair apt on thursday? someone mentioned way back where the salon was located but cant remember, anyone know?

I thought some comments were a little odd, only when you put them side by side, these first two sentences are what you might expect IMO,

``She said things were good. She was happy,'' Mrs Walker said.

``It (her death) was a complete shock to all of us.
''

but when you consider she also said ' she told me things, I should have done more', It doesnt make us much sense IMO

From a best friend could've meant ....

She said things were good. She was happy - meaning, as a person who was usually depressed, her depression had been less/nil of late, in recent times or the last time they discussed her state of mind, could've been weeks/months earlier.

It (her death) was a complete shock to all of us - meaning her best friend may have assumed she had run away and actually suicided based on previous talks about her circumstances and resultant depression.

she told me things, I should have done more = meaning whilst still thinking it's possible her best friend did run away & suicide, she should've turned to someone (ABC's parents, GBC, another best friend) to discuss how troubled ABC had appeared to her about her current circumstances/state of mind over events, past, present and possibly future.

All makes absolutely perfect sense to me.

No. It is still shock. Even though you know what's coming humans still go into shock.

I know what you mean. :) Just saying how I think I would be. To be honest, I don't know how I would even survive myself if it happened to my child. It'd be too much.
