Most definitely! And time and time again we have all wracked our brains to see who was close enough to Allison to perhaps have been romantically involved. But... we have put it in the unlikely basket because, she did not like to fail and wanted her marriage to work. She is not going to be seeking romantic interests when these girls and her family unit were her priorities.

And for these reasons and more (i.e., WS rules about wild or unfounded speculation about victims), we don't go down those paths, or discuss those unfounded speculations here.

Ok peeps. Don't understand how we missed this.
All that speculating and arguing about the sleep over.

http://www.couriermail.com.au/ipad/girls-not-home-as-allison-vanished/story-fn6ck45n-1226355229465

Mrs Baden-Clay's three daughters were on a sleepover the night their mother reportedly went for a walk and didn't return to the family's Brookfield home in Brisbane's west.

The following morning, on April 20, her husband Gerard rang the Dickies and told them their daughter was missing.

Those words of Mr. Dickie explaining how he found out about ABC missing just ring in my ears 'he just told us she went for a walk'. It is almost as if it was barely a 2 minute conversation that GBC had with Geoff. Geoff seemed crestfallen and would have like more info, whereas GBC was too busy working out what QPS was doing in his house to talk to Geoff.
MOO -perhaps QPS were setting up a crime scene calling in cadaver dogs, the forensics team......

And I wonder when that fateful phonecall to Mr Dickie occurred after the police arrived at the house or before......

I read that yesterday too CC and wondered why the information was being stated now, at this late stage, as it has been a point of speculation for weeks.

I was down in Ipswich yesterday, and saw a copy of Saturday's newspaper, the Queensland Times. There was a piece on Allison on front page.
Nothing we don't already know, just about her family and friends really want to follow through with the kids going to Grammar School because it was Allison's wish. {It's nothing we haven't heard before} ... and there's other links to the right of the story.

http://www.qt.com.au/story/2012/05/26/allison-always-wanted-ipswich-for-her-girls/

Just worth noting I guess that the QT seems to have info on her more regularly because she grew up in Ipswich.
Then on Sunrise this morning they had about the tox reports being back etc.
All this is a good sign, it means things are heating up. We've gone from next to nothing about the case, to something a bit more regular.

I've been wondering if/how much of GBC's actions/non actions since Allison was discovered are being dictated to him by his lawyer.

e.g. Mr & Mrs Dickie visited the location that Allison was found yet GBC didn't go within cooee. Was that his choice or legal advice? I realise that he would've been comforting (getting comforted) by his children after confirmation of their mother's death but he didn't feel the need to visit the scene at some later opportunity? As difficult as it would be, I would have to go there.

Too grief-stricken or too scared perhaps. He doesn't look either IMO.

Someone was asking about differences between murder and manslaughter trials and the consequences. A manslaughter charge is usually chosen where there is strong evidence that the accused caused the other person's death but there is not enough admissible evidence to ensure good prospects of success. There are basically two forms of murder recognised in Qld.

The first is where the accused intended to inflcit serious or fatal injuries on some other person, and as a result of that intention somebody in fact died That's the usual form you see reported, whete the accused set out to attack someone. That's provided for in s302(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

With the "intended" which I've bolded...does this fall into the same class as pre-meditated if this turns out to be the case.

Curious about that only because...on the day detectives searched the homes...at the end of this video the reporter is talking about the items taken by detectives from the home/parents home/business ...reporter states "detectives are now looking through the BC's finances, including insurance policies...standard procedure in any disappearance".

Has it ever occurred to anyone else that maybe the killer was someone Allison herself was involved with?

It has occurred to us and been discussed extensively and various scenarios thrown around.

I did see that report at the time although not the ipad app. version which that one is.

Interesting the headlines of the above version & the Courier Mail standard online version....

ipad app....

Girls not home as Allison vanished

standard version...

Allison Baden-Clay's parents say they are staying strong for their granddaughters

http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/...r-granddaughters/story-e6freoof-1226355251556

The two reports are almost identical except for the headline & "sleepover".

ipad app...

Mrs Baden-Clay's three daughters were on a sleepover the night their mother reportedly went for a walk and didn't return to the family's Brookfield home in Brisbane's west

standard version...

Mrs Baden-Clay's three daughters were due to have a sleepover the night after their mother reportedly went for a walk and didn't return to the family's Brookfield home in Brisbane's west

All written by the same journo too....interesting as to why she or Courier Mail would create such confusion.

Just thought I'd add...does this mean if you pay for news eg.ipad app, you then get more or more precise info.??...interesting I think.

Very early on, QPS indicated that they were confident of making an arrest. I believe they have had enough evidence since, however they have procedures and processes to follow, which can't be ignored. I don't think QPS would have stated they were confident of making an arrest if they weren't sure. They would have said something more like "at this stage we are continuing with the investigation" or similar. I think QPS have known for a long time who the perp(s) is/are.

I think so too CaseClosed...I think they knew from day 1 or very soon after who exactly was responsible. In the video I posted earlier, the day Allison's body was found...Inspector Ainsworth was asked..."is GBC a suspect"...his reply was..."I can't comment on that I'm sorry".

IF GBC was not responsible or involved I think, from way back, Inspector Ainsworth would have made a huge statement along the lines of..."GBC is not involved in any way".

The homes/business that had detectives removing items from...GBC's, his parents...the business....in one video it's mentioned bags & bags of items were removed..along with phoneS/computers/laptops/diary/shredded paper.

We've not heard of any others having their homes searched.... I'm sure the media would have been looking into that & let us know somewhere along the way if that were the case.

.....just my opinion

I totally agree. In other cases I have seen on the news, police have quickly ruled out the partner as a suspect, however they have not done this in this particular case. This speaks volume in my view! Because this murder is now such a high profile case, QPS really can't afford to make a mistake, hence they are taking their time. Allison is unfortunately gone and it won't make any difference to her if they arrest someone today or in 3 months. I do have concerns though for the kids and their safety. Just my personal opinion.

Your last paragraph is very interesting Elspeth - is he the Next of Kin - yes, if he is a suspect does that negate the next of kin relationship, so then the Dickies become Allison's next of kin - interesting! Surely the QPS would not divulge information re what they know of the circumstances of Allison's death to the next of kin if he/she was the chief suspect.

imo as the QPS have not verified the names of any suspect or charged anyone GBC would automatically be the next-of-kin...hence be given the toxicology results and they would also be given to the Dickies...

I would have thought even if the next-of-kin was a suspect this report would still be given to them if they requested it...

The report is only the *result* of what took place...the police would certainly not be releasing any information to next-of-kin/anyone about what evidence they had gathered re how this tragedy occurred...

Finally registered here, but have been reading all posts since day dot.

Like many of you, I'm totally obsessed with this case, as sad, awful and morbid as it is. It's usually the first thing I think about when I wake up, and the last thing I think of as I go to sleep. We won't go into the dreams...not allowed here, which is a fair call.

I have some thoughts/ideas I'd like to share, so many actually I'm not quite sure where to start, so I'll just say hello first.

This morning I scrawled down a couple of pages of notes for the first time, thinking that seeing it on paper might help give some clarity and order, but looking at it, I think I'm even more confused!

Anyway, I'm glad I've signed up, and I hope I'm able to contribute something. I enjoy reading all your posts...well almost all lol

RIP Allison

Hello.

Can anyone explain to me the psychology or other reasons behind not releasing the results of toxicology? Whether or not the guilty person used any exogenous substance in the process of killing Allison, he or she obviously knows that. What is the problem with the rest of us knowing whether there are substances involved? A fact is a fact. I can't see how releasing this information would hinder the investigation or a potential prosecution. Help, anyone?
