from what i read there was history but they were never boyfriend and girlfriend...her best friend didnt even know chantelle knew him...his facebook profile pic has him and chantelle...the family is outraged....they dont want people to look his profile up because hes pictured there with chantelle....

they were friends, (thats what ive read)

i really feel for the brother left behind...poor thing was told it wasnt his house only to be tracked down by the police to tell him....that would be terrible to believe iut wasnt your family only to find out it was.

his name is suppressed in S.A nso that if he doesnt plead guilty they can have a non biased jury....he doesnt deserve a fair trial though what he did is horrible...

apparently he did this because chantelle rejected him...

Very hard to believe....3 vs 1? Will need more details I think to understand how...

i dont think it was 3 on 1 (at once) but from what i read each victim fought back but i think it was a 1 on 1 type thing im not 100% sure

  • #143
This is exactly what we need to find out, if each victim fought and it appears they did, then they would have alerted the others in the house....so they would I imagine come to the aid of the other family member.

Doesn't make sense. Yet.

i agree with you Mrs G Norris it doesnt seem like he could have done it alone...although it seems he did....the father looks like he would have been able to over power {mod edit} on his own...

does anyone know what type of dna they found in the house??

if the neighbour who heard the screams had of called the police maybe 1 of them might have survived :(

I see the accused has put up an alibi.
Time to be cautious.
That's why the name was suppressed.

We don't want the killer, whoever it might be, getting a light sentence because of legal technicalities.

Sounded like blood DNA since they were looking for someone with cuts on their hands .... tried to find MSM link with that specific info but couldn't however. Feel bad for the neighbour in that they assumed it was a domestic (as you would) and now faces the awful truth that they could have helped the family...sad.

if i was on jury duty and had that case id find him guilty...wouldnt everyone else? name supressed or not i would think once they jury know the case (when it goes to court) knowing his name or not wouldnt matter as the murder has shocked so many people and he chose to make chantelle suffer while killling her...

do you think when the case goes to court in february they will have a jury? or do you think it will just be the accussed, police, lawyers and a judge in the court room?

mystery is there a link to the accussed and the alabi??

i havent heard that until then

Well if they have DNA and it is an amount of blood what is the point of a trial....and also if he admits guilt, then I also think imprisonment for the term of his natural life is inevitable. Skip to the end I say. And see no point in the name suppression either as everyone in Kapunda (poss witnesses) would be well aware of it by now.

  • #151
I also see no point in a lengthy trial at taxpayers expense just to come to what we already know is true (once DNA match is confirmed) and impose the inevitable punishment either.

there are alot of people in kapunda who are very angry because they dont like not being able to say his name....sounds like they've been told by police or someone coz they are deleting everything wrote on fb about him

yesterday a family member named him but it was deleted within 15 minutes of it being posted

ALIBI PROFFERED

Rebecca Lawley, prosecuting, asked that the man's identity be suppressed.
"The basis for that application is that police are conducting inquiries in relation to an alibi which has been proffered," she said.

"It's also put that identification procedures may result."

I followed this link from the previous page in this thread.

I wonder if that alibi will be more compelling than DNA found at the scene? I doubt it.

  • #155
I agree re DNA. However the more evidence they have the better.
There is nothing like old fashioned detective work to nail the accused.

  • #156
I doubt come February that there will be a single South Australian who hasn't heard his name, or heard of the Kapunda Murders.

Can they call in a jury from out of state? They might have to.

  • #157
Not sure IF this has been posted yet...but given the age of the accused is 18, I think they are being super cautious to keep his name under raps until his alibi is cleared up..
