The bodies of a man and a woman, aged in their 30's or 40's, were found washed up on the beach about 8am Saturday 24th March by a wildlife volunteer.
A jetski was found nearby also.
Police say the injuries are yet to be explained.
Bribie Island is 81km north of Brisbane, and is a popular holiday location.
Senior Sergeant Scott Wiggins said the two victims were wearing swimming gear and were discovered around 8am in shallow water.
A jet ski was found in Pumicestone Passage a short distance from the couple.
Water police and detectives have set up a crime scene on the part of the island which is not accessible by road.
The bodies of the two victims have been taken by boat back to Caloundra on the mainland, along with forensic evidence gathered from the scene..
