The reports don't specify who the Pajero belongs to but it seems more likely it belongs to the man accused since the woman was described as a backpacker. I hope the Queensland police check it throroughly for DNA, not only in connection with the assaults on the present woman but also to see if there's evidence of him having used it to rape any others.

Whoever he is, he sounds like an incredibly dangerous man to be doing this as young as 22. This does not sound to me like a first offence but the work of a practised offender. I'm guessing that he would have been planning to kill this woman and leave her body somewhere in the outback since he could hardly let her go, so you have to wonder if there are other bodies out there that he is responsible for.

Almost certainly a future serial killer if he isn't already.

She is SO lucky to have gotten away from him.

Has anyone found a FB page for him? (I'm struggling to find one but it may just be me.......)

No but I've got some clues. According to a DM article that has since changed some of the text (I found the original at pressreader.com) his Facebook lists New Zealand as his birth place. Also the same article mentions Todd Leahy...a friend who spoke about him changing his facebook status to married the minute they got together

The Telegraph today has more details of the attacker's background, including a conviction for drug-fueled assault.

The Telegraph has learnt that the man, who has not been named for legal reasons, spent six months in prison in 2013 for a drug-fuelled attack in 2012, in which he ordered a pizza delivery and then attacked the driver and stole the pizza and less than $AUS20.

He had been partying with three friends in Cairns – taking LSD and alcohol during a housewarming party that had lasted three days – when they decided to “roll”, or rob, a pizza delivery driver. But it was the suspect – apparently to the surprise of his friends – who violently assaulted the man, taking a plank of wood and hitting the driver on the back of the head.
