[h=1]Missing Townsville woman and twin girls found four years on[/h]
Twin girls from Townsville who went missing four years ago have been found safe and well.
Isabella and Bronte Watter, then aged seven, were taken into hiding by their mother Cassie Watter on April 4, 2014.
They have not been seen since. Police said in 2014 that they did not fear for the safety of the children in the care of their mother.
The girls, now 11, were with their mother when they were found in Taree, NSW on Friday morning.
The children's grandmother, Heather Doubleday, said she was relieved to hear from her daughter after four years of silence.

I was wondering why the grandparents were now seeking custody of the two girls, so I looked around on Google, to find whatever I could find.

I can see there are postings about domestic violence, and that the domestic violence helpline number has been issued at the bottom of the article about the girls recovery.

I also found a cached report from the Family Court. This report 'allowed' the police to search for and recover the two girls. Due to this, I imagine that the two girls were/are actually wards of the court, with the father being allowed custody. The Family Court also 'allowed' pics of the girls to be published, as part of the search for the girls.

I wont post the link, as it is a Family Court matter. The court order is filed under the name of the mother.

The grandparents seeking custody would have to do with this in my opinion:

The mother had complained about an unsatisfactory police investigation, and a complaint lodged with the Crime and Misconduct Commission eventually resulted in a finding in March 2016 that the investigation had been 'inadequate' and 'unprofessional'.

As a result of the findings, one officer left the police force and others were retrained.

Google turned up detailed rumours/allegations about what that case was about.

Found a whole long article on the Australian Legislative Ethics Commission site. Wow.
I hope the grandparents are successful in their bid for custody.

Official sounding name but they obviously have a specific agenda which reminds me of some of the recent WS crazies and associated blogs. But the MSM report of the CMC finding at least partially backs it up.

Have you seen that the father had a similar blog shut down? . . . nice of him to provide a summary.

Yes, I agree.

And MSM seem to be trying to disclose something ... without actually disclosing it. Likely to protect the children, as they are bound to do by their own set of guidelines and legalities.

I haven't seen the father's blog. But I did read that anything he could post to show how good he was, he posted.

I recall in another case, there were questions about the police in Townsville. I think it was the one where a woman was found murdered at her own home there, and her partner was affiliated with the police. I cannot remember if he was an officer, or just had a police association, and info became really tight about the case. There were big suspicions about his involvement in her death.

It wasn't the father's blog. A Google search of "Cassie Watter" showed that a result was suppressed, with a link to a defamation complaint to Google. There are no names in the link, but the complainant identifies himself as a father against whom specific allegations were made in the blog.

Ah, yes. I see that now. I also see that the info he wanted suppressed is the same info that I saw in the report on the Australian Legislative Ethics Commission site, provided by the now-deceased Professor Freda Briggs, Emeritus Professor in Child Development at the University of South Australia Magill Campus.

This Google suppression would be a great thing for William Tyrrell's foster family to go for, in certain instances.

I also see that Safe Kids International (FB page) were fully supportive of Cassie's flight with her girls. "Run Cassie Run!!"

Cassie was also director of a paediatric health service. Not a silly, uninformed woman, by the sounds of it.

“The mother has been, until recently the director of a paediatric health service. She is an approved foster carer and we hope she manages to keep the children hidden until the reason for their disappearance is re-investigated by police,” she said.

Yes, she sounds like a decent, upstanding woman, by all accounts that I have read this morning.

I hope that the police/Family Court err on the side of complete safety, and have the children live with their grandparents until a proper complete investigation is carried out.

The girls are much older now. At 11 years old they may be able to articulate themselves much better, and be listened to by the correct authorities. They may even have a say about where and with whom they want to live. I think that generally comes into effect at around 12 years old, doesn't it?

I also hope that the courts go easy on Cassie. She evidently did what she felt she needed to do, as most mothers would do.

The same group published a letter purporting to be from the Doubledays to Jo-Ann Miller in 2015. It appears genuine in my opinion.

Very professional and concise.

What a terribly, horribly sad situation. :(

Especially if Cassie herself was unwell. That's just speculation based on her non-custodial status and the grandparents' prompt offer to care for the children. I hope the kids are OK.

As to the grandparents . . . I probably can't say anything but can I eyeroll?

This Organisation is......shall I say.....not a reliable source. One of the people that runs this "Organisation" has aligned themselves with W4W. :shame:

Not saying it's fake, or true - there is just so much out there along similar lines.

Yes, there is a lot out there along similar lines. I really only gave the name of that organisation so that others here could find the info, if they wanted to, as I realise it is not an official source of any kind.

I think the thing that has me wondering what is wrong with the whole picture is the cached Family Court report that I found. It seems that the girls are wards of the court, as the court gave permission for publication of their 'missing' status and publication of their photos.

The media were/are only allowed to report exactly what the Family Court has told them they can say. These are the media notes in the report. People can take the notes however they want, as I dont really want to post the link here ..... Family Court, and all.

Media Notes
Section 121 Publication Order under the Family Law Act has been made to allow publication and broadcast of this information. To ensure that media outlets are not in breach of the provisions of the Publication Order your report should be confined to the above information. Where the Court has issued a media release, additional detail from the release can be included but the wording of the release should not be changed.

This is from Nov 2015, and explains a little about the other side of the story .... for those, like me, who were unaware of the 'reasons' for this abduction.

Family Court states the 'suspected abduction' is unlawful and a breach of its orders.

He also admitted that police are being frustrated at every turn by a 'network of supporters' helping Ms Watter's cause, and that he believed those people have opened a series of 'covert bank accounts' for her.

The trio has been 'spotted' all over Australia, including New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia.

'She is definitely being assisted by some other individuals, with places to stay and funds, including with covert bank accounts, that enables her to remain in anonymity.

'We have examined those closest to her but there is a network of support for her and whether there are support groups or individuals, they are helping her.

'The people assisting her are committing a criminal offence.

'There is a group, and they are entitled to their opinion, that claim that the police and family court have got it wrong and over the past 18 months there have been representations [made] to us.'

Snr Sgt Miles revealed that Ms Watter's parents had allegedly discussed a potential plan for her to hand herself in.
