The Courier-Mail can reveal Mr Campbell was seen on a street near his house the night Chloe disappeared, about 20 minutes before his daughter went missing.

It was also about 20 minutes before security footage shows two men and a child passing along the railway line behind Pioneer Park, only a few hundred metres from Chloe’s house on the same morning she vanished.

This is what I'm finding mind-blowing! So basically his initial story was all lies? He didn't just wake up and she was missing. Dodgy dodgy dodgy.

Curious if the people returned her b/c of all the LE activity and press, etc. or if he somehow scrambled money from folks and paid up...?

Inside job? To get the debt holder locked up and not demanding repayment?

Something just isn't feeling right here.

I didn't like the best friend's attempt at tears in the initial news clips either.

Brave Chloe Campbell gives details about her kidnap that left the nation on edge

April 14, 2014 12:00AM

CHLOE Campbell has described her apparent abductor as “daddy’s friends” as investigations into her unusual kidnapping continue.

The three-year-old used the words when answering family and friends about her mysterious two-day disappearance.

Detective Inspector Bruce McNab told The Courier-Mail the little girl had provided police with “information (they) can use”.

He said Chloe’s secrets had led police to pursue a particular line of inquiry, but detectives were keeping an open mind and pursuing several leads.

“At no time has she made that reference (about daddy’s friends”) to police,” he said. “Chloe has obviously spoken to family but they’ve never told us about daddy’s friends.”

BBM.

Unbelievable!

Also from the same link.

Locals say the girl and her parents regularly walk that same route from their house on the way to town.

So it would seem that Garth was outside on the street 20 minutes before Chloe went missing! Man this just gets more and more bizarre. Did he in fact take Chloe somewhere and was inadvertently caught on cctv? That just doesn't make sense!

This photo of the front of the house also gives a better perspective of the distance between the car and the side of the house.

What the heck? Somebody has some 'splaining to do !

ETA , I mean explaining out being out on the street later that evening and not in bed. I'm not really concerned about these broken windows. Buildings fall into disrepair,,, that's just life.

I don't think those windows were broken to take Chloe Schmae. It's probably old damage. Garth apparently owns the house, he just couldn't afford to have the glass replaced.

Good point about scrambling the money together TravelingBug. <modsnip>

Sounding more and more like it to me. I was always uneasy with the early video clips of dad and friend speaking of Chloe being missing.

Not to mention the punch in the face.

And let's face it, if a close friend of the family abducted her they would have known where the spare key was.

This!! If all the windows are smashed/open/broken its a different story than the one painted where windows are diligently checked every night. I'm starting to lose faith in humanity... Could have sworn that was real grief being displayed on the first day of Chloes disappearance. Frustrating that poor Chloe could have been spared most of this ordeal if the truth came out at the start.

Something is just off about the whole thing. I am very glad Chloe is safe and healthy but something stinks. I will keep what I think to myself for now.

The plot certainly thickens.
Does anyone else think those are not smashed windows but ripped fly screen instead?
Interested ti see how all this develops.

Also in the first interview with Garth, there were no tears. Lots of wailing and the mate all over him but no tears.

Can you get in trouble for kidnapping your own child, if you have rightful custody of them?

Filing a false police report, etc.?

It is probably against the law to file a false police report.

Someone took good care of Chloe ... did not harm her. Even washed her stuffed toy. Let her go right by home, within earshot of police.

Does anyone know what Childers is actually like? I had never heard of it before?
I read somewhere its a town of 1500

I've driven through it heaps of times heading north and it feels like an Oasis after all the boring bush and freeway driving. You first notice the red soil and canefields and climb steadily up to the 60kmh town centre which is the highest point of the area with great views of the rich farm lands, character "Queenslander" homes and buildings everywhere. Really pretty.
