The biggest question I have is WHY are people believing this poor excuse that he wanted to help CC and felt sorry for her? Hasn't anyone ever heard of someone covering their a** by lying and making up complete BS?

ETA--There are millions and millions of people in the world that are on antidepressants that don't go into people's houses to steal their child and keep them for 2 days. Mental illness is NO excuse.

The speculation is that he came off his meds. His last bail was conditional on him staying on them, which suggests he acts irrationally when he goes off them.

Nobody is saying that it is an excuse, but if you look at it through that filter it can help to explain what could have been going through his head. There are plenty of unmedicated people who also don't go kidnapping children.

Lolol , no kidding. The accused said he cared about C and wanted her taken care of or something to that affect . I call bs on that excuse too. He took that little one for a different reason, IMOO.

If you mean people here are believing that, I don't think that's necessarily true. Some of us are just tossing around possibilities based on what has been mentioned in MSM. The possibility that the parents could be abusive druggos and somehow orchestrated CC's disappearance for money and/or attention has been done to death here - discussing alternatives as they are referenced in the media is for me a respite from that topic at least.

I agree, its not an 'excuse'. but can maybe give an explanation to why if the reason is true that he did it, why he may have thought that was reasonable. Fact is people who suffer mental illness (untreated particuarly), do not always think rationally like you or I might. And it can be hard to grasp how they could think the way they do..

yep, and while I will wait and see what else develops with this, there is every possibility this was the truth by someone who is mentally very ill, but who may indeed have had the best intentions( and NO I am not saying its ok because they thought that way!). Sometimes truth is very much stranger than fiction. But we will see, I do hope that is all there is to it with this one..its a scary thought though that someone would do that rather than report what they thought was neglect.

Hi.....just catching up......I am not buying that he was not known to the family and think there is more to this story. I have lived in queensland towns this size and everyone knows everyone and gossip goes around like wildfire. This area is notorious for these types of characters...........the drug link again. So this is a town with a population of 1500, we know TO comes from that area, ED has lived there since at least 2005........both men drink alcohol and probably would frequent the same pub/s, since there probably isn't too many of them in the town. There is drug taking with both. ED held up the police with a samurai sword, has broken into places, kicked out a window of a police car. GC has been involved in fights and what not.....their lovely spokeladies have had problems with the law and drugs and they don't know each other????? One thing would be certain, they would at least have heard of each other.

Its pretty confusing that Police are officially saying he was not known to the family and had nothing to do with a drug debt... but I don't know, like you I feel there is more going on directly or indirectly relating to this case. Maybe he wasn't known to the family, but he indeed knew of the family? all in the wording...

Town is 4 hour drive from Childers - so is possible.
