UPDATE: Police continue investigation into Port Pirie South death
06 Oct 2025 3:59pmPolice are continuing to investigate the death of a man in Port Pirie South.
About 2.15pm on Friday 3 October, police and emergency services were called to a house in Dorothy Street, Port Pirie South after reports that a man had been found unconscious.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, the 52-year-old man could not be revived and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A 42-year-old woman was arrested and charged with murder on Friday evening.
Police believe that the man and woman were in a domestic relationship and lived together at the address.
Detectives from Major Crime Investigation Branch and officers from Forensic Response Section travelled to the scene and have been assisting Yorke Mid North CIB to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man's death over the weekend.
Following further inquiries and a post-mortem examination, initial charges against the 42-year-old woman have been downgraded.
She has been charged with Aggravated Assault and bailed to appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court on 11 November.
