My north-side entry point scenario would give enough space and current for the back seat to be floated out and around groyne, to be found on southern side of groyne on the Monday.

Plus with this entry point, any of the clubbies or Bobbies that swam from groyne to pylon and back had less chance of spotting the Fiat under water.
Plus the surf break curls off the groyne so surfers would not have opportunity to see underwater Fiat either if this entry point was the factual reality.

Spooks that is correct about the longshore current flowing south.
The wind being northerly is a major component of the oceanic southward drift too .
That direction of wind began on Monday then became stronger on Tuesday with moderate northerly winds
(pushing Along With the leeuwin current)
Wednesday the wind tended north to northwest and picked up strength more .
I think the longshore drift current would be going southward on mon, tues, weds & thurs .
Synoptic chart below showing 21-26th june .
Note North winds 21-24th .

Yes, that's a better spot than the boat ramp. You could get up quite a bit of speed there and virtually fly straight down to the water.

Easy campese.

Agree, as said previously the car didn't over the groyne imo. The damage to the sides isn't consistent with smashing over jagged rocks either. Anywhere to the north of the groyne and this looks like a perfect spot. I also think the police know it didn't go over the groyne, this was the critical piece of misinformation given to the public to sort the genuine tips out from the false.

Down this road ive marked with a red line Spooks ?

Shame we don't know what gear the car was in when it was found.

Makes the most sense to me with currents and wind direction

Anybody think it's worth talking about similarities between Julie Cutler's stalker on Stirling Highway and the incident 2 years earlier where a bloke from Thornlie in a blue Gemini chased 4 kids in a Volkswagen all the way from the Narrows Bridge down Kwinana Freeway and along Leach Highway, bumping their rear bumper and going around in front of them trying to force them to stop, until they all reached Fremantle Police Station, where he jumped out of the Gemini and said he was a policeman?

There ya go, not being a local I looked at this previously thinking it was a boat ramp and that's where the car probably went in. What is it used for? It looks kind of strange sloping down to the water like that.

Can anybody point out which is the boat ramp please?

Absolutely, that's where the car in all likelihood went in some time after 12.30 am and before dawn on Monday morning. Great pics.

Any physicists keen to calculate the speed the Fiat could gain travelling down the northern slope THEN how far the Fiat could travel (in air to landing on sand) at this calculated speed after launching off the raised platform?

We need to know how far a Fiat can jump and fly after running down a steep hill????

These pictures of the northern side of the Indiana are different to how it looked in 1988. No bollards, sand was up-to the path level and I don't think there were steps, just a sloping roadway. Maybe IC can remember.

Yeh would be good to find/see old pics of northern side.

Possible PD. However I think the Kwinana / Leach Freeway incident with the cop was massive road rage in response to a stimulus. Didn't they bump him accidentally or something? However, he must have owed a few higher order cops a few favours for getting him off, which I think might have got cashed in judging from his CCC appearance.

For JC, IMO she did nothing to ignite any road rage from what has been reported. I think she was being targeted, maybe even someone was planning to abduct her then. IMO your cop wasn't involved with this road incident.

Just my opinion and all what Spooks says:fence:

I think the northern side of SLSA boat shed (current Indiana) was the only access to the beach on that day as the tow truck and / or ranger 4 WD tracks were coming from north of the images. However, there was no boat ramp as such as is now with the Indiana, and no Indiana. There was an access ramp and stairs for walking onto beach which was north was north of boat shed building and faced north and south, not towards the ocean. Sand was always building up or dropping down but on 22nd June 1988, it was reported there was a one metre drop if you were to drive straight off the promenade. Don't forget without the Indiana the original boat shed was back to around where the double doors are in the current picture and the ocean was calm with small waves as seen in recovery.

I'm interested in no names comments that she saw a picture posted on websleuths looking up towards the boat shed which would have showed the sand and promenade conditions. I've seen images as well that are very clear, not just of this but of JR's cctv but they disappeared. I think someone said they deleted images off their phone and that deleted the images off websleuths as well. Does that happen?

Besides metic's coloured images of the retrieved Fiat, this is the best image of what ocean conditions were on 22 June 1988. All my opinion and what Spooks says.

Can cars still access the beach in the manner proposed or has that changed as well do we know?

Although, his role with Caporn in the Mallard Investigation as noted in that CCC report does mean that he was working in the area where Julie Cutler reportedly was followed by the car on Stirling highway behaving in a very similar manner.

Pictures are deleted by WS admin when there's no source quoted or a link to where the pictures come from.

Launching a car over a one metre drop would be less of a concern than trying to tip it over the groyne. If it was me aiming for the ocean, I would favour flying it over drop off with a bit of speed up and be pretty confident I'd get in the water fast with little risk to self and far less chance of being seen in the act.

Fair point. And roof damage could still occur by the car flipping Need to see front end to see if any damage IMO.

Agree but found resting on it's roof and towed in roof down, we'll never really know unless underwater pictures were taken before it was moved how much of the roof damage occurred in the retrieval. I imagine BLF was basically scalped.

IMO the Fiat was launched into the ocean by travelling down the path/road on the northern side of the toilet/shower block (now Indiana Tea House). The slope is steeper here in north side so car got heaps more speed going down the hill. The distance to water line here is also shorter than southern end of toilet/shower block.

Plus the current travelling north to south along coast would easily place the Fiat in line with impacting the pylon. Hence the big round dents in side panels shown in those Channel 7 pics of the car.

IMO the Fiat went in on north side. Pretty obvious to me

Yes, Fiat entering from John St side - exact scenario I posed last week. Glad you agree.
