He was ready to plead then

Lawyers for the prosecution Carmel Barbagallo argued the case needed to be adjourned so that documents relating to the murder charge for Ms Spiers and previous information could be collated and made available to all parties.
Mr Edwards’ defence lawyer Genevieve Cleary agreed adjournment until July 25 was “eminently suitable” so they could go over all the relevant information.

How much does it cost for a team of lawyers for 12 months? Its usually like $500 for a letter typed out by a junior solicitor

It must be like $20000 a day to go through 1.5 million documents

Just 5 months at $2000 per day is $300000, before the trial even starts

Who would go to the police to mess ya life up or worse, become a suspect?

To be honst, most people dont give a crap.

Many dont want media attention

Some went to police ending up in the heat

Many $1 million dollar rewards now are indicitive of society

There was that much info that police were turning away information.

One police officer had a guy in a Commodore with a fully lined boot.

Even he was turned away

Anyone ever thought SS might be located off Albany Hwy somewhere, like down near Jarrahdale Rd?

  • #1,324
I reckon you would be struggling to relate that image to an assault that happened 20 years ago.

The physical appearance through age and weight gain has left him looking not even remotely like his mid 20s

Most people wouldn't recognise him IMHO

I Dont know what he looked like in his mid twenties so I wouldn't know , nor would I pretend to

  • #1,325
I dont think anyone would

Here is is away that could have led to his arrest , his photo appears in the local paper and he is recognized by a former victim , this is just a fact based hypothetical of course

I Dont know what he looked like in his mid twenties so I wouldn't know , nor would I pretend to

Yes I agree WAPOL have been inundated with information from people who have contacted them. Thinking they’d only be interested in first-hand information, not so much what people have been told.

I know Crime Stoppers take certain information seriously, primarily those being people who reported incidents, at the time, lodging a statement and the police making a report. That information would still be on file, and swiftly located – probably available online. Crime Stoppers forward the information to the Macro taskforce, and an administration officer then decides what information gets forwarded to the detective team and the detective team decides who needs to be interviewed.

We’re all aware that serial killers spend much time in their youth, committing crimes, like arson, peeping tomming and prowling.
The older Huntingdale and Gosnells residents would be aware of such crimes.

Which begs the question.

Why haven't police released a picture of the accused at the time of the crimes?

Is there none that exist? Too busy taking ohotos of everyone else?

Looking at BRE’s school photo he hasn’t changed much since he was a teenager. He has distinctive features and not someone you’d forget in a hurry.

He would have been tall, slim with dark hair - nicely cut, and parted on the right-hand-side. Thinking he rode a pushbike back and forth to Gosnells High school - along Southern River Rd. Nowadays he wears glasses and possibly did back then. JMO

Wasn't there the school photo published by the media?

Could be that people have come forward and they don't think a specific photo from that timeframe is necessary.

Also, crazy possibility: maybe they don't have any others. Sounds mad, I know, but before phones that took pictures easily, all photos had to be taken on a camera and either printed or uploaded to a computer. If someone was averse to having their picture taken, and controlled the cameras and software in their home, they might be able to avoid too many existing. Also, a photographer I knew - there were hardly any photos of him because he was always behind the camera.

School photo must have been when he was 17.

The crimes occurred mostly around mid twenties, ten years later.

The school photo would have been taken in 1985 - last year of high school.
The accused CSK has been charged with crimes which commenced in 1988.

Hypotheicaly, the Gosnells police just may have been looking for a problem teenager back in the latter months of 1985.

You'd need to ask one of the locals. JMO

Many of us have wondered where SS could be, but the more one accepts the staggering amount of potential places within or on the outskirts of Perth (or even further), the more realising that without much to go by, these speculations are practically in vain.

With known alleged MO it's easy to assume somewhere with bush, isolated, very close to a road, but unfortunately this doesn't narrow it down much!

That said, if anyone has an area in mind and is willing and able to go to such place, as long as it's not trespassing...

I have always thought Stirling Highway was the link between these crimes and not the hotel / club ... they just gave people reason to be in the area ... it also why I think it was random ...there is a large stretch of that road on the school side with nothing and no one around at night , you could also see in both directions if other traffic was approaching from a distance

Something I have considered since the arrest of BRE ... Telstra must have a small group of techs on nightshift for emergencies , a car crash for eg. wipes out parts of the network ... if so what area would they have been based in at the time.. I have no idea where their depots were ... and I could be totally wrong

I wonder how often they actually went to the depot. Most their cars were equipped and they more than likely drove their vehicles to work and then home.

They had their work vehicles that might have been used for limited private use?

Some of these department employees had first option of purchasing the vehicle when it had reached government expiry.

Perhaps they worked on a roster system. An Excel spreadsheet schedule devised so that they're on call. Paid whilst at home, but on call. Telstra techi's don't seem to work in pairs or within a team.

The Telstra exchange on Gay St, may have been part of his responsibility if it required attention after hours. That's 5 doors from where the family lived.
