BE was back in court today. Not much happened aside from his charges being read out.

His charges, which include the wilful murders of Jane Rimmer and Ciara Glennon, were read out in court, but Mr Edwards was not required to enter a plea.
He has also been charged with the rape of a 17-year-old girl in Claremont in 1995, and the indecent assault of an 18-year-old woman in a Huntingdale home in 1988.

Even longer until the trial starts. Mid next year I reckon.

"Bespectacled and wearing prison greens, Edwards appeared in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on Wednesday via video link from Hakea Prison. He answered "yes" when asked if he understood the charges, showing no emotion.
His defence lawyer Genevieve Cleary said he did not want to enter pleas yet.
Prosecutor Carmel Barbagallo asked for the matter to return to court in seven months for a committal mention.
Magistrate Danielle Davies adjourned the case until October 25."

Don't think there will be any answers soon :(
Feel so bad for the victims and their families who just want closure.

Wearing prison greens! Shock horror. The things journos write to fill a news story that contains nothing new.

They need to be careful with how they use words. Article said he did not want to enter a plea. It is my understanding he was not required to enter a plea. That can be interpreted very different ways.

Committal Mention is an important date.
That's when the Magistrate is given the certificate of service of the Prosecution's Disclosure upon the Defence.
So the Police are asking 7 months, means they are expecting to be collecting a lot more evidence and getting it all in order over the next 6 months before serving Disclosure upon the defence and hand the Brief up to the DPP

I would like to get in early an nominate the Spring Carnival in Melbourne , October is an ideal time to talk about Horse Racing

So we what we have established today is we have to be very patient, and that BRE has an understanding of the charges. Fruitful day. :gaah:There is no banging your head against a wall icon LOL.

Channel 7 news Perth lead story tonight about "new revelations" in the case. This turned out to be that the victims of the sex assaults in Huntingdale and Karrakatta were named in court for the first time.

It also showed a pic of BRE's lawyer who the report said is the president of the WA Criminal Lawyers' Association.

Evening All!
Newbie here - long time reader but am finally joining :)

I have read through previous posts and am interested in whether people have discussed possible locations where BRE could have taken victims? I have looked in the area on google maps to see th location of phone booths and phone exchange buildings but think they may have since been removed. He would have had legitimate access to these.
