This case, Daniel's...is the first I follow here at WS.
Discussion and opinion here is minimal. Idk why, exactly.
I have revisited the thread (esp. the coronial inquest) to refresh my thinking of things...and better position myself as if sitting as a juror...absorbing testimony and evidence.
I have lots of questions. :floorlaugh:
Just a few here...with failed Google attempts for answers...
Wth? Why is there NO Sex Offender Registry in Australia?
Wth? Why is it Cowan's sketched trial images of his wicked eyes are obscured?
http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/que...murder-trial-the-exhibits-20140214-32q5f.html
Why are Daniel's school shoes of importance in the exhibits of evidence?

Our unofficial sex offenders registry....

MAKO was Founded in 1997 and is an Australian Non profit Organisation. Our mission is to help PREVENT and ASSIST victims of child sexual abuse (any form of child abuse) and other sex crime in Australia

---------------------------------------

Re the sketches or blurred photos. Once a person is arrested, because of our judicial system, it's classed as contempt of court to publish photos of the accused & is seen as interfering with the course of justice to show their true identity.

--------------------------------------------

Re minimal discussion. Majority of Aussies all know of Daniel Morcombe & we all have a special place in our hearts for him. Daniel's disappearance affected a lot of people, from Commisioner of Police, police, journalists, tv presenters & members of general public....many of them hold a strong bond of friendship with the Morcombes.

There was a lot of rejoicing when an arrest was made & Daniel's remains were finally found after eight years but at the same time, a lot of incredible sadness also. Many folks don't want to know all the details of what happened to him as it's all too horrific for some to think about. However everyone is absolutely united in waiting & wanting to see justice served.

I imagine like many people in this thread, I can see that underpass spot as clear as anything in my mind after all these years of Daniel's story in the media. Thank god there is going to be a resolution to the mystery of what happened to Daniel, if only there could be true justice, Daniel spared and returned to his family.

Daniel Morcombe murder trial: Bus passengers worried about boy
February 18, 2014 - 11:23AM by Marissa Calligeros

Passengers on a bus travelling to a Sunshine Coast shopping centre 10 years ago were worried about a little boy left behind on the side of the road.
They would come to learn that the young boy wearing a red T-shirt was Daniel Morcombe, who was dead "almost certainly" an hour later... :anguish:

Witnesses who saw Daniel Morcombe before he disappeared have given evidence on day five of murder trial in Supreme Court

KATE KYRIACOU THE COURIER-MAIL FEBRUARY 18, 2014 12:00AM

"... Giving evidence in the Supreme Court on the sixth day of the Daniel Morcombe murder trial, the three witnesses – all in their teens when they saw a little boy waiting for a bus"... "Ms Theuerkauf told the court she had a reason to remember the man and the boy She saw the boy in the red shirt as the Sunbus rumbled along the Nambour Connection Rd. He stepped forward to wave them down but the bus did not stop"... :steamed:

I can't believe someone thought there were kids under the blue tarp and didn't do something. Didn't they think that was highly unusual and disturbing. I would have screamed for the driver to stop the bus.

I know it's terrible Fuskier these people probably thought the boy they saw would be ok because an adult was there little did they know it was the adult that posed the danger. I think people should always act on their gut instinct if you think something is wrong. I have reprimanded a few parents for walking away chatting leaving toddlers and children unsupervised for someone to grab in an instant.

I have seen many toddlers and young children walking unattended or lost and I always ask them where there parents or relatives are and take them to security.
I can't stand parents who go to the supermarket and immediately let their kids go to the toy section alone will their parents get the groceries. It is not safe for parents to do that. I also hate seeing young boys in the gents toilets being allowed to go to public toilets alone as well it's not safe. My cousins children are always taken to the disabled toilet cubicle and we stand guard outside the door or go in with them.

Sorry for ranting about this it really bothers me when children are in danger and people do nothing.

Poor Daniel and it must be agony for his family having to hear how he could potentially have been saved.

A WITNESS has told the trial of Daniel Morcombe's accused killer of seeing a glimpse of red from under a "jumping" tarpaulin in the back seat of a moving car...

BBM ~ I understand. The trial progresses...and the details emerge. Neither do I wish to hash out the horrors of poor Daniel's demise. My sadness hardly equals those who have felt it longer...and neither do I wish to offend anyone with foolish words/thoughts here. Trials are emotional journeys...and I've opted (from the outside) to latch on to Daniel's.

My utmost concern is with the Morcombe's. The finale of a trial that ends with some sort of closure, after all these years...after all this unimaginable torment. How tragic a 'not guilty' verdict would fall.

My utmost desire for debate/discussion is with Cowan, Shadoo, Sha'fool', whatev. The obliterate conscience of an evil defendant that refuses to fess up...lingering in the justice system. Ugh.

IMO, in the early stages of this trial...the prosecution rocks! The investigation proves astounding...the evidence is all there...kuddos, prayers...hoping Sha'fool' is THE guy.

Mr. Edwards is keen counsel, IMO. He's doing his job...with a relatively strong defence. Jackway. Allowing room for question/doubt. Spit. I'd be happy to be told I'm wrong, wrong, WRONG.

Trusting the Crown's got it. They know! ;)

:heartbeat: for the Morcombe family.
