Appropriate to set non-parole period of 20 years. Not to say I'm of the view you should be released after 20 years. #morcombe @abcnews

I wonder if he'll jump the queue in Qld Health to get his emphysema treated???

I was actually hoping his non-parole was 25 years, and sentences served consecutively. Let's hope he's dead before he ever has a chance to apply for parole.

I am happy she has stated he shouldn't ever be released.

Me too I am pleased he was caught and told where Daniel's remains were but twenty years doesn't seem to be enough for brutally taking a young boy's life. I watched the reporting live and note the judge's comment that very harsh sentences may mean the perps are more likely to kill their victims. (I hope I have stated this correctly)

I hope the Australian public campaign for sentences to be reviewed because both Cowan and Jackway remain a serious threat to children's safety. These are the only two offenders I know of I am sure there are many more out there. Hopefully in 20 years time the parole board will decide to keep him in prison for as long as possible.

Is there not a way these perps can be put under house arrest away from the vicinity of children after release and be made to wear an ankle bracelet to monitor their every move.

Thank you for all your updates everyone and for caring about Daniel and that justice is served.

IMO because there is 'Indefinite Sentencing' available, he will not be released on parole, most likely detained indefinitely.

i actually find the sentence disappointing I had hoped he would be sent away for the remainder of his days. I hope in twenty years that the parole board follows the judges request that he is never released. I also hate that that he will most likely be kept in protection. Feed him to the dogs I say. Rot in hell you sick piece of .....

That's no surprise but fat chance of that being a success. He should be grateful he is in prison and is safe from being taken out by a lynch mob in street justice.

Sorry to say this but he will probably be put under witness protection and given a new identity when released which is a very scary thought.

I don't think he'll be feeling safe in prison. There is much worse then a lynch mob waiting for him.
