RT @ursulaheger: The man accused of murdering Daniel Morcombe asks to appear by videolink instead of in person at his committal hearing

And rightly so...the request was denied.
December 4, 2012
Chief magistrate Brendan Butler denied the request

Just been reading through the witness testimony notes and I'm shocked! How can so many people see so much and not report it. Some of these witnesses should be ashamed of themselves. Poor Daniel, could of been stopped if someone had of acted on their instinct instead of ignoring it or not wanting to get involved.
And am I right in thinking that he was captive for a period of time? Or are they just pulling out all the witnesses to show they have enough evidence to go to trial? and how did they know where to search for him?
so many questions
I wonder similar things Melbourne girl ... I hope he wasn't held captive. He went missing in the globe shoes didn't he? I hope the morcombes have been given the police's best theory of events otherwise it would be untenable to sit through

He said he was waiting outside a shop for his son when a young boy approached him and asked for help. Mr Rumbel said the boy twice told him his name was Daniel Morcombe before being berated by a well-dressed, tall man in his 40s with whom he left a short time later. Mr Rumbel said he contacted the police a few months later after seeing a missing person advertisement about Daniel on a pizza box.

Mrs Lincoln said she had stopped at a service station at Yabulu to buy a paper and was walking back to her car when she saw a man "exclusively dressed" standing with a boy. The child standing next to him tried desperately to catch her attention. She said the boy smiled at her and mouthed 'come on' and gestured to her paper, which had a photo of Daniel on the front page.
Mrs Lincoln said she then went to walk past and say 'hello Daniel', when she said the man noticed the interaction between the two and threw the boy into the nearby men's toilets, swearing.
She eventually gave her statement to police in 2006, after walking into a police station with a newspaper article which identified a potential suspect in Daniel's disappearance and asking to see a photo of what the man looked like when he was released from jail.
While attempting to clarify the clothes the man she saw with the child was wearing, Mr Meehan asked if the man looked like a "drug baron".
Chief magistrate Brendan Butler interrupted to say it might help if Mr Meehan explained what a drug baron looked like.
Despite the sometimes complicated nature of Mrs Lincoln's evidence, the woman said she was convinced the boy she saw was Daniel. "He told me he was," she said.
