9.13am: THE committal hearing into the murder of Sunshine Coast teenager Daniel Morcombe has begun with further cross examination of one of the lead investigators.

Detective Senior Sergeant Stephen Blanchfield was asked by defence lawyer Michael Bosscher to confirm that accused killer Brett Peter Cowan had legally changed his name to Shadoo Nunya Hunter.

''My understanding is that is now his legal name,'' the detective said.

''Changed by deed poll at some point,'' Mr Bosscher said.

Shadoo Nunya Hunter ..... pft!

Hopefully we'll get a public national sex offenders register one day, and it will list the offenders with their changes of name/aliases. :please:

DENISE Morcombe wears a tiny red pin in the shape of a T-shirt when she comes to court to hear the horrors of her son's death.
It's the symbol of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, the organisation she and husband Bruce run to keep children safe from predators.

It represents what their boy was wearing when he was last seen, standing by the side of the road in a brightly coloured shirt.

She was wearing the pin on Tuesday when the court heard accused killer Brett Peter Cowan had told an undercover officer about abducting 13-year-old Daniel from a Sunshine Coast highway and choking him to death after a failed rape attempt.

What is the fascination with murder by TV show producers and network programers?

"Are we the only people who find the subject revolting? Take it as fact, you do not want anyone you know to experience this most horrendous of crimes.

"To trivialize (sic) such violence on TV is nothing short of a disgrace. Bones, NCIS, CSI the list goes on, but tonight's new show Mr and Mrs Murder has overstepped what is acceptable in my view.

"Vote with your remote and switch these baboons off. Murder is NOT Entertainment."
This is the plea of Bruce Morcombe.
I don't watch much T.V., so it bothers me NOT.
Regardless of my opinion of his statement...IMO, the Morcombe's, as the parents of a missing/murdered child...can say what ever they dat gum please...and I'll listen. Objectively.

Wonderful wonderful news. They deserve it so much. And so great to see Mrs Morcombe smiling in the Courier Mail photo today. They are trying to save every child from ever experiencing what sweet Daniel had to endure. Congratulations Morcombe's!!

THE trial for the man accused of murdering Daniel Morcombe is likely to run about six weeks, a court has been told.

Lawyers for Brett Peter Cowan, 43, on Friday told the Brisbane Supreme Court it was also unlikely Daniel's accused killer would apply to have his fate decided by a judge only, rather than a jury.

Neither Cowan, who has legally changed his name to "Shaddo Hunter'', or Daniel's family were in court for today's brief hearing.

The older brother of Daniel Morcombe will strap on the boxing gloves for his first official bout at a corporate fight night at The Events Centre, Caloundra, on July 13.

Tradies, dentists, lawyers and business owners will be among those fighting it out to raise money for melanoma patients and the charity SunnyKids.
