This is an interesting video interview about Ms Lin's evidence being inconsistent. In other words, it appears that she could be lying to protect her husband. I am now wondering whether she could have felt the same resentment and jealousy after four years that Robert did towards her brother and his family but never let it show. I had predicted that when she found out her husband had been involved with her niece, she would have not felt so inclined to protect him. But that does not seem to be the case. So I am wondering if she is afraid of him?

In the interview they also mention a letter received by them while working at the newsagency after the murders allegedly sent by a Chinese group asking them for money or they would kill them as they
did to her brother. This sounds as if this letter was to put police off the track.

In this video below, Robert Xie's wife claims that Robert Xie did not leave their bed that night thus giving him an alibi. IMO she could be a heavy sleeper, they could have been sleeping in separate bedrooms or she knew what he was going to do and even approved of it.

Robert Xie’s wife Kathy Lin breaks down in court as she tells of the ‘horrible scene’ on finding relatives bodies

Ms Lin, who took the witness stand at his trial today, described walking into upstairs bedrooms of the North Epping home with her husband on the morning July 18, 2009.
“I saw the blood on the wall, I saw my sister-in-law’s body,” she told the jury.
“I saw the two boys ...”
She said her husband put his arm around her.

Ms Lin told the court yesterday that her husband was sleeping next to her on the night of the murders and rejected claims that she was sedated by him on the night.

No mention yet of the call made to 000 which police believe was Ms Lin, she said a murder was going to be committed. :thinking:

The court heard that during one of two 000 calls made by Robert Xie's wife Kathy the next morning, the couple were screaming at each other in Cantonese.

It heard that his wife was asking him not to leave before police arrived.

The Prosecutor said Robert Xie's wife will be a crown witness.

The court heard that, after his wife Kathy spoke to him about the police investigation into the case, Xie tried to get rid of shoe boxes that might link him to the crimes.

But the Prosecutor said there is no evidence his wife was involved in the murders.

Xie's lawyer said the victims' injuries suggest several weapons were used and that there is evidence more than one person committed the murders. He said the notion that the murders were committed in the dark "beggars belief".

Judge discharges juror in trial of Robert Xie, accused of Lin family killings

"A young male juror has been discharged in the trial of Lian Bin "Robert" Xie, who is accused of the Lin family killings.

Justice Elizabeth Fullerton discharged the juror on Monday morning, and told the remaining 14 men and women that she did so after receiving a note about the man from some of the panel"

Robert Xie trial: Man charged with Lin family murders met undercover officer in custody, court hears

Robert Xie's fellow inmate, known only as Witness A, said police arranged for the officer, whose pseudonym was Harry, to visit Long Bay Jail in June 2012.
Witness A has told Xie's murder trial that Harry was introduced as someone who had access to corrupt government officials who could influence Xie's case.
In the Supreme Court on Tuesday, the jury also heard a conversation between Witness A and Xie, recorded on May 19, 2012, that raised an earlier discussion the witness says he had with Xie.

A Long Bay prisoner who befriended and then informed on accused Lin family murderer Robert Xie concocted a plot with police in which he pretended to have a friend who had access to dead bodies in an attempt to draw incriminating information from Mr Xie.

"The story was to explain to the accused that DNA could be taken from a dead body and used to frame a deceased person from the cemetery for the murders."

An undercover police officer was to play a man who ran a cemetery and visit Xie in jail in an attempt to draw information.

Giving evidence in Mr Xie's trial over the 2009 murders, the inmate Witness A says he lived in fear of other prisoners finding out he informed on Mr Xie because they would "drag you into an empty cell or a shower block, pump you full of holes and leave you there".

ROBERT Xie boasted that paying thousands for the funerals of the slain Lin family “looks good for my defence,” a jury heard yesterday.

Witness A said Xie told him he spent thousands of dollars on the funerals for the five relatives, including on their coffins, plot space at the cemetery, outfits for them to be dressed in and airfares for grieving relatives from China.

The jury were told Xie boasted he knew all “the pressure points” in the neck from studying medicine and someone who knew those could render someone unconscious without too much disturbance.

“(Then) take hammer and hit, hit,” Witness A quoted Xie as saying.

“The police know I am strong, I train to play badminton.”

The court heard Xie made reference to his wife Kathy having “mild sedation” on the night of the murders and said “the wife must support the husband (in Chinese culture)”.

Robert Xie trial: Jury to stay in hotel if verdict not reached this week

A jury has been told it will be accommodated at a hotel from next week if it is still deliberating in the murder trial of Sydney man Robert Xie.

The jury has yet to formally retire to consider its verdict in the case, which involves the alleged murders of Xie's brother-in-law, news agent Min Lin and four members of his family in 2009.

Why do you say this? I can guess but would like to know your opinion. IMO it is obvious he is guilty and should get a whole of life sentence. But there seems to be little interest here on Websleuths even though he killed 5 people in a very violent way.

Robert Xie murder trial: Jury say they cannot reach verdict, judge urges them to continue


THE jury in the murder trial of accused Lin family killer Robert Xie have declared they are unable to reach a verdict after 10 days of deliberation.

But the judge presiding over the case has urged them to continue their efforts in attempting to reach a unanimous verdict with “calm and objective discussion.”

This is the third trial as the two others were aborted and now the jury after 10 days has not been able to make a unanimous decision! IMO Xie is guilty especially due to his bloodied footprint being found in his garage or house. They proved it was his so I wonder what the jury cannot decide on.
