IMOO , someone filming the incident makes it worse.

I wonder if it's possible that she was aware that something bad was about to happen and she filmed it with her phone.

I didn't even think about that. :blushing:
If she caught 'whatever happened' on camera it would be great....especially if LE could use what was filmed. IMO

I just noticed this sentence stuck at the end of an article from a couple of days ago. Someone filmed the incident? Not 'the incident was caught on CCTV'?
My first thought here was that this info has been released in the hope of getting someone who was present or involved in some way, to step forward now. Otherwise it does sound like they either have a witness or some sort of security camera footage.
Of course the very best :please: outcome would be that April-lee herself is at some point able to tell the full story and identify those involved.

I wonder whether the last facebook post could have been made by the offender. maybe a facebook savvy drink driver?

I guess if the phone screen was cleaned of fingerprints it would be an indication.

Very good observation. Things may not be what they seem at all. I have wondered why she didn't just call 911 or whatever the emergency number there is. Or call her boyfriend or family for help.

Prints are retrievable if they are wiped - but the cost is expensive. I cant remember where I saw this - I think a Swiss based investigation company had invented a new method of retrieving prints from objects that were years old - or had been wiped.
I don't know what the method is called - I did try a search in Google - but with new print identification technology, there's a million references. :scared:

Has there been any further updates? In particular to April, and if she is awake? Or the extent to her injuries?

Lake Illawarra police are continuing to “investigate every line of inquiry” into the circumstances surrounding the hit and run of April-lee Gillen on Northcliffe Drive, Lake Heights, in the early hours of April 27.

Lake Illawarra police inspector Steve Worthington said CCTV footage was still being reviewed ....

April-lee’s condition has been upgraded to stable

(Except I think they have the date wrong. I think it was the "early hours of the 20th April" according to older reports ... http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-04-...ost-about-stranger-before-hit-and-run/5403448)

So glad to hear that she is now stable but she must have had horrific injuries if it has taken this long for a change in her condition. Unfortunately I don't think she will be able to assist with any description of a peretrator.
if there was damage to the car he has had plenty of time to repair it. JMOO

Any upgrade of her condition has to be good news - I wonder if April-lee has been conscious at all yet? I hope she is safe and secure there in hospital - a recovery is the last thing her attacker would want.

Did her hit-and-run driver offer April-Lee Gillen a lift?

TEENAGE hit-and-run victim April-Lee Gillen has woken from her coma as police investigate the possibility she was deliberately run over after refusing a lift from a young man.

The 17-year-old has been fighting for her life since she was found by the side of the road near Wollongong on April 20. “We did think we could possibly lose her,’’ her sister, Kimberly, said yesterday.
