Hmmmm, wonder why the announcement then? What is he trying to distract from (sorry, haven't followed Australia's news lately).
Take your pick! haha, Australian politics is a MESS right now
Today's announcement that they're more than doubling the cost of degrees in humanities and communication and significantly increasing the cost of business and law degrees
Distraction from media discussing and arguing things like BLM and Indigneous Lives Matter/Aboriginal Deaths in custody, and the recent issues around miners blowing up Indigenous cultural sites
The general all-round bad news about the recession, economy and employment; things like child care workers losing JobKeeper supplement while priests continue to receive it (even though when it suits them, eg child abuse investigations, they're not technically 'employees'), the refusal to hold a Robo-debt inquiry
Preventing media from focusing on the mess in Parliament yesterday when the PM and Speaker had a disagreement where the PM initiallly refused the direction of the Speaker
Like clockwork, they bring out ASIO and the AFP to do things like this when there are too many negative stories in the press, or even the chance that the press will turn against them. I guess China is the threat of choice atm, usually it's terror raids, we haven't had to do those for a while.
