After a lifetime of hard work in the heart of Sydney, Hugo Benscher moved to the Gold Coast for a well-earned retirement. The Hungarian migrant had been in New South Wales since 1948 but relocated north to the sun-drenched paradise after his wife died in 1986. He moved into a home in Paradise Point on the Gold Coast canals... But after just six years of living on the Gold Coast tragedy struck.

Benscher, then 89, was found dead in his home on the morning of Sunday June 21, 1992 -- more than 27 years ago. He was discovered bound and gagged on the floor with a head injury. A full-scale police investigation into the alleged murder ensued. At the time of Benscher's death there were a number of burglary and home invasions at nearby Gold Coast estates."

Arrest made - Murder arrest for 1992 Paradise Point cold case - Queensland Police News

"Homicide detectives have charged a 62-year-old Launceston man in relation to the murder of 89-year-old Hugo Benscher at his Gold Coast home in 1992.

The Launceston man, formerly of the Gold Coast, was today extradited from Tasmania to Brisbane where he was charged with one count of murder.

The arrest follows a renewed public appeal last year and review by investigators of the Homicide Group’s Cold Case Investigation Team and Gold Coast CIB."
