Hundreds of court cases potentially compromised amid Victoria Police investigation
Police have arrested a digital forensics officer based in Bendigo, sparking fears hundreds of cases he worked on have been compromised.
Victoria Police told the ABC that officers arrested a digital forensics officer from Crime Command in August as part of a Professional Standards Command investigation.
He has not been charged with any offence.
The ABC understands that police are now auditing the officer's work dating from June 2016 until August 2025.
The ABC understands the audit could affect more than 600 cases, including those allegedly involving child abuse and sexual offence material.
