Hearing he's been found, trying to find a link.

Saints be praised! Thanks, sleep, for posting the good news. I hope James gets lots of Easter Eggs (and a good talking to about wandering off, if necessary.)

Some Easter good news. A three-year-old boy missing near Mudgee has been located safe and well.

The three-year-old was found by members of the public around 11.40am today (Sunday 1 April 2018) on a public four-wheel drive track.

The members of the public contacted Triple Zero (000) to alert search teams.

The track where the boy was found is approximately five kilometres south west of where he was last seen.

The boy is being flown back to the command post where he will be reunited with family and assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

He got 5km away!

Good little walker! Although in practical terms it’s only about 250m per hour and even if he managed getting some sleep for half of the time he was missing, it’s still only 1/2 a km per hour.
I love happy endings and I’m so glad the search parameters were open... There was a sad case in the US in the last couple of years where a 2 year old wandered off but the search quadrant was kept to about 1/2 a mile. Unfortunately he was found dead 2 miles away. (Noah Chamberlin https://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?298543-TN-Noah-Chamberlin-2-Pinson-14-Jan-2016-1)

I hope this case will set a good precedent for search teams to set very real and wide-spanning parameters for little lost feet!

I remember him. 2yos and 3yos are quite different in size and stamina and independence but I still think 5km for a 3yo is pretty impressive. I agree about search parameters though. I'm not sure if the people that found this kid were part of the official search party or just coincidentally on the 4wd track he was on (I know they were civilians, either way) but I think it would do future missing kids a solid if we stopped assuming 3 year olds can't get further than a couple k's away.

Wow...5km...he's a mobile lil dude. I wonder what happened. I'm gonna guess he wandered away then became confused when he lost sight of people.
