Agree Dr.Watson. The predator got his prey. Let's hope that Jill was not 'gang raped' like that poor medical student in India or the unfortunate young girl in NSW last week. As you said something made those journalists nauseous. There was some WS discussion about neighbours hearing/seeing a couple of cars arriving at the accused's premises in the early hours of the morning wasn't there and we still don't know what that was about. Guess we'll find out more at the Committal hearing next Tuesday.

Baulkham Hills gang rape girl helps Sydney police, by Clementine Cuneo,The Daily Telegraph, March 07, 2013 12:00AM.
The Hills Neighbourhood Watch program organiser Marilyn Stoneham said the young woman's attack had frightened people.
"This just doesn't happen here, we've never heard of anything like it out here, so it's very worrying," Mrs Stoneham said.
She said a Facebook page dedicated to safety in the Hills district had been inundated with people posting messages of concern since the attack.

Does anyone have information on how Bayley's appearance in court went today (8/3/2013)? I can't find any mention of it in the media.

is it possible they suppressed all reporting on the hearing for fear it will jeopardise the upcoming high-profile Meagher trial? It sounds like something like this has happened, because there wasn't even a paragraph mention of it in the media, anywhere.

My guess is media didn't bother covering it. I just read in one of the links it was just a "filing hearing".

March 04, 2013

A filing hearing in the Melbourne Magistrates' Court is listed for Friday

Filing Hearing

This is the first hearing in the committal process. At this hearing the Court will set a timetable for the exchange of information between the prosecution and the defence and dates for matters which will ultimately be determined in a higher jurisdiction. Applications for bail may also be lodged at this time.

Inside the minds of Queensland's worst psychopaths The Sunday Mail (Qld), March 10, 2013 12:00AM.
THEY are some of Queensland's worst psychopaths - men with no conscience, incapable of seeing the terror in their victims' eyes. Psychiatrists say they are unreachable and untreatable . . . beyond help

10.11am: Mr Bayley killed Ms Meagher as she was the only witness to the crime, Chief Crown prosecutor Gavin Silbert, SC, said in a short opening at the start of Mr Bayley's committal hearing.

Mr Silbert told Magistrate Felicity Broughton that Ms Meagher had left the Etiquette Bar about 1.30am on September 22 and was "accosted" at 1.38am.

It was alleged Mr Bayley dragged Ms Meagher into the laneway and committed vaginal, oral and anal rape before strangling her.

Mr Silbert said Mr Bayley left Ms Meagher's body in the lane way and returned home where he collected a shovel and returned in his car about 4.20am.

He put Ms Meagher's body in the boot and drove her to Blackhill Rd in Gisborne South where he buried her, the court was told.

After his arrest, Mr Bayley made admissions to raping and strangling Ms Meagher and directed police to the body, Mr Silbert said.

The committal continues.

In the front row next to detectives sits Ms Meagher's husband Tom, her brother Michael McKeon and her mother Edith and father George.
