10.20am: Mr Bayley, dressed in black, is in the dock behind protective glass and flanked by three guards.

In the front row next to detectives sits Ms Meagher's husband Tom, her brother Michael McKeon and her mother Edith and father George.

Tom also has left the courtroom early during proceedings and has so far not returned.

Oh that makes me so sad that they're there hearing that :( my heart just breaks for Tom.

Mine too. It would be so hard to look at the person and listening to everything that happened to the love of your life. I wish Tom and Jill's family strength today.

11:10am: A woman who lives above the Hope St lane way in Melbourne's inner-suburb Brunswick where Jill Meagher was raped and strangled heard a woman yell "Get out of there" several times at about 1.45am on the morning of the killing, a court has heard.

Witness Sophia told Melbourne Magistrates' Court she was lying in bed watching a foreign news program when she heard the female voice.

Under cross examination by defence counsel Helen Spowart, Sophia said the voice sounded very loud for that time of the morning.

what does this mean for the case? any one know?

Could this possible mean he is going to plead guilty to rape and murder .... if he has admitted to these actions?

It has me puzzled, Scooby - he is contesting the case, and his barrister actually tried to have the committal delayed so they could get some independent DNA tests done among other things. That doesn't sound like someone who is about to plead guilty...!

But if he has admitted the rapes, and the murder, and disposing of the body - how could he NOT plead guilty? Or is he going to try something like a manslaughter charge, or even an insanity plea?

I wonder how much of this is being driven by his legal team?

I'd be fairly confident that the police have those confessions on video and audio recordings. So I'm just waiting for the legal twist....

Phew thought I was the only one being so baffled by it.... I am sure it is all being driven by his legal team, they will make it as messy and crazy as they possibly can I'm sure.

The other thing I am sure of, is this man is guilty way WAY beyond any reasonable doubt!

11.53am: Witness Yuxiang He tells court he heard a woman say "Get out of there" in a sharp loud voice several times.

The husband of earlier witness Sophie Qui, said he thought the voice could have been an argument coming from another building.

Mr He said he thought the voice sounded like that of a drunk woman.

He said he thought she may have sworn as well.

Mr He said he heard a noise like a door slamming before the woman repeated, "Get out of there."

He said it did not sound like a car door.

Oh no what could be worse? I'm so disgusted in this AB individual and what he has done. They'll throw away the key, why have a trial? I just want him locked away for good so that she can rest in peace and her family don't have to go through all of this.

:(

Bayley's lawyer indicates he will plead guilty to one or some of the charges against him in relation to #jillmeagher

Methinks the lawyer may not have realised exactly what he did and the fact that he admitted it. Then again, perhaps she did, but Bayley may have been playing hardball - and only now starting to realise that the game is up.

Defence barrister Helen Spowart is currently seeking instructions from Mr Bayley in the cells about the release of material.

The last witness, Sen-Det Benjamin Leonard, of the Homicide Squad, has been cross examined.

Mr Bayley has not yet been asked for a plea in relation to the four charges he is facing.

This could be all over with a "Guilty" plea before today is out. And I hope that whoever does his sentencing is made well aware of his previous form, and that he is marked "Never to be released". Do they have that provision in Victoria?
